Jelly production abilities and questions

If my buggos produce jelly from themselves, they just turn around and eat the dropped jelly immediately.

Is there any trick to this to prevent net loss of nutrition and waste of jelly?
Is there a way to autocast the ability?
Is there any method to prevent them from eating jelly vs simple meal if they're already good on the jelly metabolism hediff?

Best bug mod since mantodeans, btw.
