Frost Mamba
Frost Mamba
Once part of Frost Legion, malfunction in the control chip has turned this long range snake in to a tech gifted one as well.

Mambas can hack objectives, but not robots and can use squadsight

Arsenal:
  • Naja Sniper Rifle or Rifle
  • Gremlin
Special abilities
  • Immune to frost
  • Squadsight
  • Can hack objectives and lamp posts with Intrusion protocol
  • Can spit frost at medium range
Starting abilities
  • Aid protocol
  • Scanning Protocol
  • Quickscope
Strenghts
  • One of two aliens that can hack objectives
  • Gremlin protocols have very good range
  • Can be trained to be a support-oriented unit, or as squadsight sniper, very high aim NCE Mambas can be trained as reaction-fire snipers, who can harass enemies across the entire map, they can also be trained as Hunters who flank w snapshot and fight on the frontline
  • With fracture, exceptionally powerful against robotic enemies
Weaknesses
  • Worse than Sharpshooters and Agents at long range combat due to lack of special attacks like precision shot or deadeye
  • Fragile (lower health than other Vipers)
  • No haywire = no robot hacking
  • Naja Rifle on snapshot duty isnt as powerful as semi-auto rifle Hunters could use

This section bellow is useful for anyone trying to play with the new aliens and is not sure how they should go at it, so this is more...meta game-ish, if you want to figure it out yourself, skip the text bellow

Gameplay - Frost Mamba
Intended gameplay role - tech support/snapshot flanker/ranged fire support

  • Mamba can hack objectives and lamp posts, but not enemies, Mamba does have above standard hack growth compared to Specialists and due to the array of protocols he can use, its still worth building better gremlins for him, This ability makes him one out of two aliens that can actually complete missions with the hack X or Y objective, normally you would have to get a XCOM soldier to hack it to finish it.
  • Mamba starts with quickscope, which gives pseudo snapshot against non-squadsight targets. If you pick snapshot on top, Mamba can fire twice from stand still (first quickscope, then snapshot shot), 2x hit with sniper rifle will do quite some damage, you can also simply do quickscope -> protocol
  • Mamba should be used like a Hunter if you go with the snapshot/protocol route - behind your team, but not too far so he can contribute with both attacks and protocols
  • Use rescue protocol to kite boss enemies like the Assassin
  • Use scouting protocol to reveal dangerous paths
  • Use aid protocol to shift targeting priorities or to protect vulnerable units
  • Fracture pretty much makes Mamba almost incapable of missing enemy robotic units and the added armor shredding will make them quite useful in MJs late game.
  • Mamba has good aim growth (same as Naja), so reliably hitting isnt that hard
  • Winter Protocol does not destroy loot and corpses
  • If you also have Viper and Frost Necromancer, you can give Mamba the Cryo Rifle, he can quickscope -> standard shot for Marauder like ability
  • The middle perk line if followed through makes a reaction fire, map-wide spanning sniper unit, given Mamba has high aim already, can take Sniper Elite to eliminate long range penalties, CUP, Sentinel and eventually RFA. Then it just matter of shooting and then enemies have to face 2x high accurate shots that can crit across the entire map. MSGT Mamba can also take Kill Zone if you want to wipe out whole pods.
