Muton Sapper
Muton Sapper
This Muton Destroyer used his knowledge of explosives and tech gadgets for good cause, armed with a special Muton rifle and BIT, Muton Sapper has the best synergy with buildable units and Sparks XCOM can make as he can repair them.


Arsenal:
  • Muton Demolition Rifle
  • BIT
Special abilities
  • Can hack robots and objectives
  • Immune to radiation
  • Can detonate enviromental objects as free action
  • Deals increased damage to objectives
Starting abilities
  • Radiation Grenade
  • Repair
  • Haywire and Intrusion
  • Bombardier (+2 grenade throw range)
Strenghts
  • One of two aliens that can hack objectives and the only one that can hack enemy robots
  • Gremlin protocols have very good range
  • Can be trained as Grenadier
  • Starts with a radiation grenade, albeit short range, this grenade is the best anti-boss weapon in the entire game due to the debuffs it brings
  • Can demolish landscape with Tear Down, city maps with cars used as cover by Advent are now a death sentence .
  • Extremely good synergy with Proving Ground units and Sparks as he can repair them.
  • BIT lets him use all the heavy weapons XCOM has that normally cannot be used by Aliens (Bio rockets, magnetron, shredder gun, list goes on...)
Weaknesses
  • No melee potential, bayonet is only for intimidation and is not used for combat
  • Cant protect squad with overwatch like Specialist
  • Primary weapon is an assault rifle damage thing, so not very high damage
  • Sturdy bio enemies
  • Has no protocol baseline

This section bellow is useful for anyone trying to play with the new aliens and is not sure how they should go at it, so this is more...meta game-ish, if you want to figure it out yourself, skip the text bellow

Gameplay - Muton Sapper
Intended gameplay role - tech support/grenadier/hacker
  • Muton Sapper can hack both robots and objectives with innate intrusion protocol and haywire
  • Use repair on stolen units, preferably, pair a Sapper with a Hijacker that can perma steal robots, Sapper will be able to repair them
  • Sapper is the best buddy of Sparks, SHIVS and other mechanical units as he can repair them and support them with protocols
  • Sapper starts with BIT, so a heavy weapons slot, shredder can will do alot of damage in the early game, but there are better options later on
  • Sapper is best used in city-like enviroments, because of his teardown ability, free action that can blow up cars that Advent might use for cover, he also deals more damage to objectives like relays with all of his attacks
  • Radiation grenade has short range, but has very powerful status effects, including panic, high damage DOT, lowering hack defence and lowering of dodge and aim
  • Use neutralization protocol to cancel suppression or overwatch, its also super useful against the Requiem Legion as it pretty much forces them to use their magna reaction to reload their empty weapon.
