Warmaster (Heroic Alien)
Warmaster

This rugged veteran of many wars is a heroic alien, a high ranking Muton officer, clad in heavy armor and armed with multiple exotic weapon systems, this Muton Devastator is an unflankable, slow moving juggernaut that can inflict psionic flame epidemics with primary attacks, debuff enemy units with +20% DPS boost with his lance pistol and rip enemies to pieces at close range with his lightning claw that ignites targets or even stuns them.

Warmaster can be trained as Officer and has full pistol row perk accessible

Arsenal:
  • Psi ripper assault rifle (causes psionic plague that spreads to surrounding units, damages over time)
  • Lance Pistol (Sidearm that can mark targets)
  • Lightning Claw (Comes with adjacent melee, hits considerably hard, Elite version gives dash attack)
Special abilities
  • Unflankable and serves as high cover for other units
  • Ignores wounds up to 4 HP
  • Wallcrasher (Can ram walls with his heavy armor)
  • Trainable as Officer
  • Can learn pistol perks
Starting abilities
  • Fallback (free action, unit that has spent its AP will do a defensive action of their own personal chosing)
  • By my Command (First officer action per turn is a free action, works with Cover Me perk as well)
  • Quickstudy (Learn officer perks 50% faster)
  • Tactical Senses
  • Unstoppable (Mobility cannot go under 7)
Strenghts
  • Very durable
  • Very strong officer candidate
  • Albeit cumbersome, powerful at melee range as he can stun units
  • Pairs extremely well with Slayer classes with his Lance Pistol debuff
  • Psi plague is powerful against clustered enemies
Weaknesses
  • Very slow unit (baseline 13 mobility), has massive detection radius (Same as a Spark)
  • Heroic unit
  • Psi Plague can spread to XCOM units on accident
  • Vulnerable to psionics and anti-armor attacks
  • Lackluster accuracy, raw damage output is mediocre.
  • No natural immunities, vulnerable to Frost.

This section bellow is useful for anyone trying to play with the new aliens and is not sure how they should go at it, so this is more...meta game-ish, if you want to figure it out yourself, skip the text bellow

Gameplay - Warmaster
Intended gameplay role - frontline officer
  • Train him all the officer skills that are normally turn ending as he will refund it once per turn
  • His Lance pistol is great against boss enemies as it gives them +20% increased damage taken
  • Use Warmaster as cover...as HE IS COVER
  • Due to Tactical Senses, Warmaster is alot better than other unflankable units in tough situations, though dont over extend it
  • Give Iron Skin PCS and pick Anticipation perk to make Warmaster imprevious to almost all forms of melee attacks, though be wary of things like Stun Lancers knocking him out cold.
  • Use fall back on units that failed their attack and are now next to an enemy unit, bail out your melee fighters if they failed in their attack
  • Dont expect to use concealment very much with Warmaster, he has really big stature and all Advent units will pretty much spot him instantly when he enters their LOS...there is no sneaking around with a guy like this.
  • Once you get him the upgrade for high lightning claw (Muton Elite autopsy), he can dash melee, his lightning claw can ignite and cause unconciousness so if you do manage to get him to such short range, there can be nasty effects if he hits with it.
  • Because he has quick study, he learns all officer perks 50% faster, so dont be shy to run him through the school even in late game as he will learn the perks super quickly.
