GBU38 frame rate drop

So, I'm not totally sure why this is happening. But whenever I drop a GBU38 my frame rate goes to crap. Down into the single digits from over 90FPS. This only happens when the GBU38 is falling. As soon as it hits the ground/target my frame rate jumps back up to normal. Has anyone else experienced this?
