FAQ
Is "Festung" playable as an Allied faction?
A: No. The win condition is based on a historical concept that sees the German forces, low on resources, stubbornly defending strategic "fortresses" to tie down Allied divisions.

BUT - there is now a standalone Win Condition called "Bridgehead" bringing the framework to USF and UKF - check out the Eichenlaub collection.

Will you add a "hardcore" balance mode like Wikinger or Spearhead?
A: No. This mod is meant to have a vanilla-esque balance as part of its vision, and not follow in the footsteps of other popular Mods. Changing the damage model drastically is an early decision in the development process and would require tweaking and balance testing thousands of values (health, armor, range, damage). It also has secondary implications, since the AI doesn't understand the increased lethality without considerable configuration. If someone has a scripted solution that say, halves all infantry models' health, I would be happy to include it as a win condition setting, but I can't allocate resources to develop it myself.

Will you add Feature (x) in the future?
A: Probably not. Eichenlaub is considered feature-complete on release. Future patches will mostly address bug fixes and balance adjustments.

Why is there an Axis bias?
A: All factions should be well balanced power-wise. But, the Axis factions offer more content in this mod than the Allied factions. This is due to three reasons:
  • Most of their commanders (12 each) and "sub-factions" were designed for the Festung game mode, before being ported into the traditional win conditions.
  • The base game offers more assets (structures, infantry models, vehicles) for the two Axis factions than any individual allied faction.
  • Historically, late war Axis formations were very diverse, as opposed to more streamlined Allied armies. I tried to give the Allied factions more variety within their base tech and include as much lend-lease as possible.

If anyone has good ideas for more Western Allied commanders, please share them!
