How do you play as Sven Lagon in Teardown?

I can't figure out how to play or switch characters. I want to spawn the neighbor and want to play as Sven Lagon. Does anyone else have this problem, or just me?

No!!! Update the experimental version in the steam game properties, you are playing on the old version! That's why you don't have a character menu! This is not a mod, but an official one from the developers
