Hey there, I just recently encountered an issue where the UI didn't line up correctly, only started happening 2 days ago, two things I noticed was that the tooltip messages in the loading screens didn't line up to the banners, and the majority of the top left interface (where it shows your resources etc.) is borked to the point where it's difficult to use. I have a twitch VOD of it if you want to see if there's anything else there, but let me know if you need more info or anything

@Oo 0 oO This scenario usually happens because you have an incompatible mod active. If you're sure that no mods are active other than the ones mentioned in the collection above, please share your mod configuration and some screenshots so I can try to reproduce the issue.

Hi Glidar,

Noticed an issue in the HRE screen when the religious leagues are active. Any electors on on the top row of either league will have the elector icon (Seal with "E" and ribbon) cut off at the top. You'll need to fire "The Evangelical Union" event to simulate.

@Nehebsis Thank you for the report. I added a fix for it.

I tried running the mod alone and was running into the same issue, I can't attach images here though, you want me to dm you? Alternatively, you can check out my VOD at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2273574107 around 7-9 minutes in you'll see the issues.
I did have a weird situation before it started happening where my game failed to update, and wouldn't run mods til I updated, so something might have broken from that, but I manually deleted the mod from the folder and re-added it, but still same issue

@Gildar, Thanks!

@Oo 0 oO, Don't have the issue you are having. I see you don't have the P2KE compatibility mod for The Great Exhibition but I don't think that will be the cause of the issue.
Glidar  [developer] 14 Oct, 2024 @ 4:49am
@Nehebsis The P2KE compatibility mod for The Great Exhibition is only needed if you want the bigger event window (so you need an extra 3 GB space for it). I didn't resize the event picture window in the mod on purpose to not force everyone to download the extra 3 GB for the compatch + 2 GB for the original "The Great Exhibition" mod.

@Oo 0 oO I looked at the VOD. I tested it on 2 PCs with your configuration (deactivated the 3 DLCs, same mod loadout), but I can't seem to reproduce the issue.
I think that at the start of the VOD the Steam cliend updated the eu4 mods (I updated the mod a few times in the past days)

What I can say is that I encountered similar issues in the past with mods only working halfway and this are the steps of how I solved them:

1. Unsubscribe from the mods .
2. Verify integrity of game files (Right click on the Eu4 game -> Properties -> Installed Files)
3. Subscribe again.
4. (Optional) : Create another Playset with the mods ( I had this issue where the eu4 client didn't recognize/load the playset anymore)

Hope this helps.

@Glidar I haven't been able to find any way to fix it, I tried what you suggested, I also unsubscribed from everything, uninstalled, deleted all the files I could find, reinstalled, loaded only this mod, same issue, I don't really know what else I could do to try fix it, though one thing I should mention in case you missed it, I'm on Linux, so if you only tested on Windows, maybe there's something conflicting with the Proton compatibility patch?
Glidar  [developer] 16 Oct, 2024 @ 5:25am
@Oo 0 oO I only tested on windows machines so that may be the case. I saw a comment on the map mod I posted saying that it does not work on Mac, so Linux may have some issues too. Unfortunately I don't think I can do anything about it, but maybe this sugestion can help you.

I looked at your past broadcasts and I saw that the version from 2 weeks ago worked fine. Here is the GIT link with that version:

https://github.com/2kProjectEu4/Proper-2K-UI-Enhanced/tree/60ae78b71aef50229fc329cda2d6cb245c779dde

Maybe you can try to use the mod locally. I will put the steps here in case you are not familiar.

1. Download the GIT archive.
2. Lauch the EU4 game, go to "All install mods" -> "Upload Mod" -> "Create a mod"
3. Name it however you want, being local it does not matter.
4. After creation go to the folder created. ( a shortcut is using the 3 dots at the end of the mod -> Show in folder). For windows is in "Documents\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis IV\mod", I'm not sure where is it in Linux.
5. Extract the files from the Git Archive in this folder.

yep loaded that version and it works fine, so I guess it was something in the latest update. I can't really help you with the techno-wizardry side of things, but if you have an idea on how to fix it or want to run some tests, lemme know and I can be a lab rat for that
Glidar  [developer] 17 Oct, 2024 @ 1:55am
Honestly, I'm not sure why that's happening. The recent changes didn't affect anything related to the assets that were missplaced in the VOD. Could you check if the latest GIT version, when ran locally rather than through a subscription, has the same issues?
I want to make sure its a mod issue and not a Proton compatibility one. (or Steam update problem)

It's not needed anymore. I tested the mod on several Linux systems, and it seems the issue is related to Steam's subscription. If you add the mod locally by following the steps above, it works perfectly.

Yeah sorry @Gildar I'm a master procrastinator lol alright good to know though, I'll keep an eye on updates you make in the Linux users discussion, and let you know if I encounter any issues
grotaclas 27 Oct, 2024 @ 6:45pm
I think the linux issue is caused by the wrong capitalization of many filenames in the mod. They seem to be all lowercase. Linux filesystems are case sensitive so for example topbar_ul.dds is not the same as topbar_UL.dds and if a .gfx file references topbar_UL, the game won't find it in the mod and use the vanilla file topbar_UL.dds. Likewise .gui and .gfx files which differ in capitalization from their vanilla counterparts will not override the vanilla file and instead they are loaded as a separate file.

I first noticed the issue with the great exhibition submod which I installed yesterday. The main mod was still working for me. I think steam didn't pick up on the capitalization change and didn't update the files. I made a copy of the mod folder and unsubscribed from it in steam and subscribed to it again and now the files are all lowercase.

Unsurprisingly the error.log complains about a bunch of missing files for cases where your files have a different filename than their vanilla counterparts, but there are also a few more errors:
[bitmapfont.cpp:333]: Trying to overwrite font coloring 'P' in file: interface/core.gfx line: 579 [persistent.cpp:88]: Parsing Error. File: "interface/menubar.gui", Error: Unexpected token: ^, near line: 125, Last good read: buttonText= [persistent.cpp:88]: Parsing Error. File: "interface/menubar.gui", Error: Unexpected token: =, near line: 125, Last good read: buttonText=
There is an extra "^" at the end of line 124.
And then there are a bunch of "Error: Already Defined" for things in interface/tradeinterface_bak.gui.
And then there are errors about missing compression(the second and third only happened before my reinstall, because the files are not used anymore, because the foldername is now lowercase):
[spritetype.cpp:349]: Texture gfx//interface/rivals/choose_rivals_bg.dds have forbidden compression, have you tried DXT3? [spritetype.cpp:349]: Texture gfx//interface//ideas_EU4/global_religious_conversion_resistance.dds have forbidden compression, have you tried DXT3? [spritetype.cpp:349]: Texture gfx/interface/ideas_EU4/prov_modifier_bg.dds have forbidden compression, have you tried DXT3?

@grotaclas Excellent find, thank you for the report. I will upload a fix for the mentioned problems in the following days.
