Total War: PHARAOH DYNASTIES

Total War: PHARAOH DYNASTIES

historical local gods as factions' crest

Canaan
currently there are several placeholder emblems in southern Canaan.
i haven't worked much on Canaan yet,
here are my ideas:

from North to South.

Carchemish:
arguably Hittite but in Yamhad region.
in game cult centre of Kumarbi (Kronos' original form in theories),
might give it a sickle/ scythe logo.

Ugarit:
as discussed in Cult Centre discussion, Ugarit is shifted to Yamm's cult centre for mythological reason.
the fish logo from Egypt was leftover yet it looks reasonably good, so i recycle it for the sea god's stronghold.

Halab:
credit to Terminus, Halab's patron deity is Hadad and he found Hadad's image is used by another faction.

Emar:
in-game cult centre of Baal, so remains as Baal.

Alashiya:
the logo is an artifact from Cyprus [www.kiprinform.com]

Amuru:
i haven't looked into details of Amuru Kingdom.

Damascus:
the default logo is artifact of Asherah[i.pinimg.com].
however, Damascus is in-game cult centre of Moloch.
plan to change to something bull-ish.

Byblos:
is just the spelling of Byblos in Phoenician alphabets.
in-game cult centre of Asherah so... should it takes Damacus' Asherah artifact, or leave that to Amuru?

Hazor:
the default logo is another Baal head

Sakka:
the default logo is
https://www.pinterest.com/pin/362258363773658457/
Fertility Goddess, probably Asherah or Astarte

Megiddo:
the default logo is another different Baal head

Schechem:
dunno what that thing is.

Ashkelon:
it will be El's Cult Centre,
maybe an El head?

Habiru (Nomad):
default logo is an egyptian winged sphinx, which is given to Mut (close to Kelly where Tutu was worshipped).
Habiru is associated with Hebrew, perhaps something to show vague connection.

Jerusalem:
default logo is a zombie hand?

Sukkot:
its Ramesses' first enemy so it will die in few rounds, can just give them a logo without much though.

Beersheba:
occupy the city "Hathor", as Asherah is Hathor's Canaanite equivalent,
currently using a turquoise version of Sakka's Asherah,
turquoise is the colour is Sinai.
will change either Sakka or Beersheba in the future to avoid repetition.

Timna:
Thoth is known to be worshipped in Sinai (Southern SInai?)
ibis? (or ibis swap with Khemenu's ape?)

Hetch:
House of Hathor's geographical location is in its domain, Egyptian Hathor.

Serpopard, which is currently Akhmin's logo,
is said to represent a symbol of the chaos that reigned beyond Egypt's borders,
may fit the lore to move it to Canaan.

maybe something associated with Hyksos could become a Canaanite crest.

suggestions are welcomed :)

There's that hieroglyphic text spelling the city name of Ashkelon. If you want to go for an Egyptian loyalist vibe you could use that on a light backround.

I think Hetch might be made up by CA not sure.

The name of Bersheba seems to refer to water and finding it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beersheba

Schechem, maybe with the text "𐤌𐤀𐤁" on stylish backround for Moab.

Habiru, I've read theories the habiru where instrumental in trade, may be reason why the language is caaled hebrew today.

I know these are not god related, but some ideas

Edit:
Aram Damascus, maybe "ܪܡ-ܕܪܡܣܘܩ".

thanks very much Kendji :)

Ashkelon's hieroglyphic spelling may not fit the shield shape like het-nesut though.
the bird looks similar to Horus/ Nekhbet from Egypt crests,
while there are several lions already.
i think the logo you made for israel mod would look better than hieroglyphic spelling XD
i'm re-considering making an El head, since amongst the regions i've covered, he's the only major god without any representation logo.

Hetch is probably made-up name, but House of Hathor (Serabit)'s geographical location is in its domain,
perhaps the Egyptian Hathor?
or assume that Sakka women is Hathor?

Beersheba, its relation with water...
we do have a leftover goose logo from egypt,
or could look through any unused assest from Troy.
did Beersheba's name come up long after New Kingdom?
while the other city in its domain, "Hathor", might be made up...

i'll probably avoid alphabet unless its iconic (e.g. Sparta's ^ ),
as alphabets look less designed than the default logos while more work.

for Habiru, i might give it an ambiguous six headed star while bringing the sphinx back to Egypt.

have you seen this Moloch?
https://newreligiousmovements.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Moloch-768x1007.jpg
the shape just looks like Kerma's logo, perhaps for Damascus?

Many places are devout adherents to the same gods, even Hatti with a thousand gods had essentially had several copies of the same god. Tessub, Tarhunz, Tarhunna etc. Shaushka Ishtar. I mean, in many of these cases. There are many different looking versions of the essentially same gods. Depending on how your editing you could try to make them black and while, cutting it out the backround, then recoloring the god and sticking it to the crest. Ending up with many that have the same god but still look different. Wikimedia commons is good source.

That Moloch pic reminds Markarth in Skyrim.

Sorry if it isn't helpful :)

i see.
i'm not familiar with Hittite and haven't looked into it.
if its not as defined as Egypt, i might leave Hittie as it is.

i don't plan to 100% stick with the mod's title (yes i'm misleading haha),
as logos of historical artifacts, or anything reflecting their culture, are also nice.
