The first series of stories, The Hard Goodbye (13 issues), was published between April 1991 to May 1992. The second, A Dame To Kill For (6 issues), was published between November '93 to May '94, which is probably the latest you'd want to go if you want to stay lore-accurate.
The first issue was published in 1984 by Eastman and Laird's company Mirage Studios
Thanks! Sin City was on my to-do list for the next patch. I won't do all 13 series though, probably 2 or 3 like the rest.
That would be a cool addition! We already have Turtlemania #1 in the mod, so adding 2 to 3 normal editions would be just right. Noted it down for the next patch
I was also tempted to suggest 2000AD, cause Judge Dredd is ♥♥♥♥♥♥' wicked, but I didn't want to bombard you with too many things at once :')
Thank you so much for making this mod. As a huge comic book fan I've been looking for a good comic book mod for a while and this one is probably the best to date!
That being said, I do have 3 comic book suggestions which I think should be added due to their historical significance and impact in pop culture:
"The Death of Superman" ("Superman" Vol. 2, #75) published: Jan. 1993
Arguably the bestselling single-issue comic in all history since it deals with Superman's death (at the time of it's publication most people didn't know that editorial had a plan to bring Superman back). I also think it's kinda fitting since this comic was published in the beginning of 1993, when the Knox event started. In the Zomboid universe your character could look back at it as a foreshadowing of their own death.
"Flash of Two Worlds" ("Flash" Vol. 1, #123) published: Sept. 1961
The introduction of the multiverse concept which has forever changed comic book storytelling as well as the return of Golden Age Flash, Jay Garrick.
"Superman vs Muhammad Ali" ("All-New Collectors' Edition" Vol 1, C-56) published: April 1978
The iconic comics boxing match between Superman & real-life heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali. A fun read, a collectible comic book, and the comic book I'd choose if I could only have one in a zombie apocalypse.
Those are my three suggestions but aside from these ones, any additions of Superman and/or Flash comics would be great!
Thanks again for this awesome mod!
Hey Minos!
Thats exactly the kind of suggestion that I wanted here
Gonna put the suggested comics on the list for the next update!
Also thanks for the feedback! I also loved comics back in the day and didnt found any decent and immersive coimic mod and started cooking my own thing :)
And I have big plans for the mod once B42 hits and we get these fancy custom UI elements that are fairly easy configurable ;)
Glad that other folks are enjoying it as much as I do.
DC's Crisis on Infinite Earths (1985) Issues #1-12 Published by DC Comics in April 1985- March 1986
This comic was something that Expanded Multiverse Idea within the comic space and a really loved and well told event! It Follows Heroes all around the multiverse to combat a evil who wishes to destroy all of the worlds.
DC's Vertigo The Sandman (1989) Issues #1-7 Published by DC Comics Vertigo in Jan 1989- July 1989
One of the greatest DC stories with outstanding writing that explores the realms of more powerful god-level characters! It follows Dream, One of the Endless who rules over the Realm of Dreams until he's summoned from Humans who wish to talk to his sister, Death of the Endless. Failed doing so they caged him until he could do as they wish or contact her.
One of the other people suggested The Flash #123 (1959) but I'd love to have The Flash #110 (1959) Published by DC Comics in December 1959 and The Flash #139 (1959) Published DC Comics in August 31st 1963.
The Flash #110 (1959) Introduced Wally West who later becomes Kid flash and The Flash After Crisis on infinite Earths (1985). The Flash #139 (1959) Introduces the Infamous Reverse Flash, the Rival of Barry Allen who tries to make his life Terrible.
The New Teen Titans "Judas Contract" Published By DC Comics in #39 - 44 + Annual #3
"The Judas Contract" From The New Teen Titans published by DC Comics and marks a significant turning point in the Teen Titans series and introduces Night-wing.
(You might have to find Issues #41-44 under the name Tales of Teen Titans)
Spawn (1992) #1-5 Published by Image comics from May 1992 - October 1992
Spawn is a black-ops soldier who makes a deal with the devil and becomes Spawn, a hellish anti-hero. Really Good Comic that'd I would love to have in the mod.
Justice League of America #1 Published in (1960),
Justice League of America #1 (1960) introduces the Justice League for the very first time!
The Justice League Fight Despero a powerful telepathic alien warlord from the planet Kalanor.
That's all of the Comics I can think as of right now, I think it'd be cool idea of having different type of comic packs from brands like DC, Marvel, Image comics etc as you add more comics from all these publishers into the Mod.
Again thanks again for creating this mod!
Hey Poduu!
Thanks for the great suggestions, that’s exactly the kind of feedback I appreciate. I’ll be noting them down for the next update, but just a heads-up—I’ll likely only implement 1 to 3 issues from each series, similar to how I’ve handled the other comics.
I also really like the idea of branded comic packages! I’ll take a closer look and see which ones make sense to add right away.
Glad to hear you’re enjoying my little mod!
Unrelated, so apologies in advance, but man I just want a Waifu card collecting mod (tastefully done ofc). Collect and able to view "zoomed" like to the map. I would've done it myself by now but I simply can't code. I want to, but it's my kryptonite and I wasted 2 months trying n' sighing. Never diagnosed but I'm 99% certain I have whatever form of ADHD that includes "a million thoughts at once" which doesn't allow me to focus on something so detailed.
I respect all of you guys n' gals that put in this amount of effort and work. I really do, and thank you for making gaming culture the best culture on planet Urph. o7
Thanks for your kind words mate, but I dont dabble myself into anime mods
I will note the Punisher comic suggestion thou! Stay tuned for the next update, it might be bigger then expected or even be a complete overhaul of the mod
I just updated the Stalker mod with your translations, thanks a lot again!
As for this mod, it doesn’t really need a translation in my opinion. Spider-Man is Spider-Man in every language. We could, however, consider translating the tooltips and some headlines. I’ll note that down and see what I can do.
