No, the Demoman one is supposed to be like Davy Jones, this one is like Cthulhu.

but it does have the same squid-like style...
but i guess your right...
i don't think they are going to add this one because they already have an almost-lookalike item

If this item appeals to TF2 players (and makes money) you can be damned sure that Valve will at least consider adding it.

One is for Lovecraft fans and looks entirely different, the other is for Johnny Depp lovers...gross. They both have tentacles but one is demo only. Faces are way different. Git gud.

This hat is inspired by the mythical creature Cthulu, a octopus demon that, by the legend it's based off of, lives deep underneath the sea in a perpetual slumber...

The Cap'n Calamari -and similiar looking cosmetics- are based off of Davy Jones, an entirely different fictional character. A qoute taken directly from the official TF2 wiki is as follows:

''This item is based off of Davy Jones, a major antagonist in the films Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.'' ~TF2 Wiki, trivia section

Can we all agree that this is NOT the same as some of the other octopus/squid themed items?

Hurrah, I am a worthy one! *bows down to the almighty Shrek*
But, yeah, I can see why people would see this as similiar to the other Pyro/Demoman cosmetics, though that Halloween Pyro cosmetic (I believe its called ''The Creature From The Deep'') doesn't look like an octopus, it looks like sewage piping strapped to the Pyro's face (not this item, this is a completely different cosmetic I'm talking about). I always thought that one was a bit lazy on design, like the kind of Workshop items that end up on the dreaded ''Incompatible'' list.
