Spec abilities
Squaddie:
  • Preparation grants a bonus AP in the next turn. Free action, 3-turn cooldown.
Corporal:
  • (60%) Running On Empty reloads 1 ammo if moving with an empty weapon.
  • (40%) Close And Personal grants +30% crit on adjacent foes, dropping 5%/tile.
Sergeant:
  • (60%) All Fired Up grants fire immunity and ups ALL dealt damage by 1 if standing in fire.
  • (40%) Rush of Battle adds a focus system, 3 points per own kill or 1 for kills by squadmates. Each point adds 1-2 dodge, or, if spent, heals 5% of HP.
Lieutenant, captain:
  • Forty Below ups damage against chilled foes, up to 3 points when fully frozen.
  • Salt In The Wound ups damage against poisoned/burning/acid'd/bleeding enemies by +1.
  • Ventilate blasts a single enemy. Uses 3 ammo, can't miss or crit, and destroys cover. 4-turn cooldown.
Major, colonel:
  • Aggression boosts crit chance by +5% for each seen enemy, up to 30%.
  • Social Dynamo grants allies within 10 tiles a 2-turn 10% crit buff when you crit.
  • Battle Cry provides a huge +100% crit chance, but enemies get the same bonus on you. Lasts for 2 turns, 4-turn cooldown.
Brigadier:
  • Fond Farewell gives the last shot in your clip a damage bonus equal to clip size. This works with all the thrower abilities I tested, as well as canisters!

Running on Empty has crazy good synergy with Fond Farewell, but you would need to carry it all the way through to Brigadier to get there.
