XCOM 2
Odd S9: Season 9 Gameplay Collection
Target Preview is Dramatically Wrong
***Edit: ((( [WOTC] Tactical HUD Lag Fixes ))) is the problem I've been having. Turning this mod off completely fixed the issue of targeting. I do not recommend using this mod with a controller AT ALL. It will not work properly. The author, Exit Sign, seems to not have posted any type of update for over a year and I don't see this ever getting fixed. At least not by them.***

I'm starting with a fresh install and new game using only the mods in this collection + the season 9 cosmetics and AML of course.

During my first mission, which I restart twice I had multiple instances when targeting an enemy I would should a completely different enemy.

Thinking it was user error, I had it happen again and again and again. Each time I double checked the target, pulled up the target card to make sure the one I'm "aiming" at is the same as the preview card.

Everything suggests that I should be targeting the enemy I am clearly selecting, but it would OFTEN shoot a completely different enemy, usually one behind full cover of course.

Is this a known issue that has a fix that I am missing? Or is it some masochistic mod that there is a(high) chance of just shooting a random enemy? lol

I haven't seen this in my own playthroughs yet, but did see some similar targeting weirdness reported by a few people in the Discord. Doesn't seem to affect most players, but for those it does I don't think I've seen a fix yet.

How many mods does it show you as having active, and how many missing dependencies and conflicts do you have? Worth a quick check.

According to AML I have 552 mods installed and running. Those are just from Chrisodd's season 9 mods. Both the cosmetic and the game changing mods.

18 Missing dependencies

2 conflicts

According to the descriptions, that should be normal and ignored as far as dependencies and conflicts go as other mods should be covering them. At least that is my understanding from reading the description.

Edit: Steam only shows me as having 425 mods subscribed for XCOM 2. Not sure why the discrepancy

Yup, that all sounds right. (sometimes old mods can pop back up and cause issues)

Don't have any other ideas myself, but will keep an eye out for any potential fixes.

Disabling "Enemy Preview - Extended" did not fix the problem.

Still searching for any mods that effect aiming previews, though if they do it is part of another mod.

Had the thought today that my issues may be due to using a controller. After using a mouse and keyboard for an entire mission and having no issues, I think it is safe to say that any mods dealing with target previews do not play well with controllers. Very unfortunate for those of us that cannot really use mouse and keyboard.

Yikes, I know I've seen mentions of controller support being notoriously fiddly/unreliable for mods before, but this is definitely a weird one. Wonder if you could do something with button-assigned macros, there... Not sure how you'd go about getting that set up, though.
