Navigating the Hades Custom Map: A Comprehensive Guide

Welcome to this comprehensive guide to reach the end of the Hades custom map. Here, you will find not only the steps to reach the end but also insights to help you speed up the process and prepare effectively.

This map requires you to equip yourself fully on the different levels of Hades and improvise when things go wrong. So here is a step-by-step guide on how to finish the map as quickly as possible.

Weapon Boxes:
In Tartarus and other areas, you will find weapon boxes. These work uniquely: you see the next weapon available for purchase and decide whether to buy it. Once a weapon is bought, the next one is randomized and displayed. Be sure to make wise choices as you prepare for the challenges ahead.

Also, note that wall buys in each section look different, so don’t be confused if the appearance changes as you move through the map.

About Perks:
Perks on Hades are spread out. There is no perk limit. Once you buy a perk try to hold on as long as possible since a Perk you might be in Tartarus won't be available in Elysium. The only exception is juggernaut which can be found in all of Hades sections. You will also receive a perk or multiple when completing certain challenges on the map or quest steps. An example would be the crystal orb challenge which will give you double tap and revive. Double tap will not be available again from here on except for in Elysium. Certain Easter egg steps also will grant you a certain perk depending on the need for it. For example on Singleplayer you might receive Quick revive first but in Multiplayer something more team or damage related like Deadshot or Double-Tap which are accessible only early or late in the map.

Important Note on Wonder Weapons:
Before diving into the detailed walkthrough, be aware that there are wonder weapon quests available in Tartarus. These quests have their own separate thread and can be accessed from every area of the map. However, each wonder weapon requires completing specific area-based challenges. If you progress to Elysium without completing these quests, you may block yourself from obtaining certain wonder weapons. Keep this in mind as you navigate through each area, and consider completing these quests early to ensure you have access to powerful weapons that will aid you in later stages.

Slowdown Amphoras:
In Tartarus and other areas, you will find glowing amphoras (Small glowing vessels). These have an icon of an exhausted zombie on them. As the map itself requires lot of searching these amphoras when shot will grant you a powerup that lasts until the round is over. This powerup will slow down zombies whenever they are shot for a small timeframe. Use this to read through hints better when there are only few zombies left or you are in a tight situation. You can find an image of a vase here[i.postimg.cc].

Tartarus:

Tartarus is the first level of Hades. It’s a place where the worst of souls are sent and punished for their sins. This part of the map is heavily based on killing zombies and completing challenges to find hidden items.

Keys and Challenges:

Collecting Keys:
In Tartarus, your first objective is to pick up the keys scattered around the map. There are three keys in total. Each key looks like a small, floating cube. These keys need to be filled with souls for later use. Here’s where you can find them:

The first key is right at the spawn, next to a glowing rock, and can be picked up immediately.
The second key is in the very back of Tartarus, inside a cave, also near a glowing rock.

The third key is floating above a bridge over a small river in the plaza area. You can only retrieve this key using the soul, which is filled with zombie kills. This soul which will spawn once the first 2 keys are cleansed will move over the map using kills. When it reaches the third key it will be attached to the soul and be moved to a spot near the end altar where you can pick up the final key.

Cleansing the Keys:
Once you have a key, it needs to be cleansed. Take the key to one of the altars around the map. When you activate an altar, a sphere will appear around it. Stay within this sphere and kill zombies to cleanse the key. If you leave the sphere, the cleansing process will restart. Once cleansed, the key will automatically move toward the final altar in the back section of the map.

Soul Quest:
After 2 keys are cleansed, a soul will appear next to the challenge altar. This soul consumes zombie souls and moves forward with each kill. Guide the soul toward the final key by killing zombies nearby. The last key, which is otherwise unreachable, will attach to the moving soul. The soul, with the key attached, will continue to move forward until it reaches the end. Then, the soul will fly up into the sky, and the key will move to the final altar where the other keys are placed. Collect and cleanse this key to proceed.

Collecting Crystals:
Once the soul quest is complete, a new challenge at the challenge altar will be unlocked. You need to collect three crystal orbs, glowing with light, scattered around Tartarus. Here’s where to find them:

The first orb is near the spawn area, hidden between some rocks.

The second orb is located in the cave at the back of Tartarus, near the Deadshot perk machine in a small tunnel.

The third orb is near the Juggernaut perk, at the top of the altar plaza area, right behind the Juggernaut.
After collecting all the keys and orbs, you are done with Tartarus. Be sure to use all available perks and weapons from the boxes in this area because once you leave Tartarus, you cannot return.

Asphodel:

Asphodel is the next section after Tartarus, characterized by dark, rocky mountains and the flowing River Styx. It symbolizes eternal punishment for sins and is known for its fire-based challenges.

Fire Zombies:
Asphodel requires you to set zombies on fire using fire-spitting lion heads scattered around the map. Lead burning zombies to the soul containers, marked by triangle symbols, and kill them there. Be cautious: burning zombies explode, so avoid getting cornered. This task symbolizes absolving the damned souls that never received proper burials. There are 3 boxes in total so make sure not to miss any!

Six Item Quest:
Another key quest involves finding and interacting with six specific items scattered across Asphodel. There are hints in the form of books around the map that detail the correct order. If the items are activated in the wrong order or if the round ends before you finish, the quest will fail, indicated by a locking sound.

Also keep not one but more than 2 zombies as the items deal damage to the zombies when activated. If the round ends just as you activated an item it will be deactivated again a few seconds later. Make sure to complete the items during the round!

Here’s the order to activate the items:

  • Greed (Coins): In the center of the map near a round stone altar.
  • War (Sword): Near the spawn point, to the right of a broken-down house, near a weapon box and a fire-spitting lion head.
  • Nature (Plant): Inside the cave area of Asphodel.
  • Fire (Fire Orb): In the back of the map, before the dock area, on a small hill.
  • Death (Skull): Immediately to the left after spawning, opposite the Juggernaut machine.
  • Time (Gear): Located at the very back of the map, near the River Styx.
Once both steps are complete, you can move on to the final area, Elysium.

Once all soulboxes are filled and all items are activated, a final teleporter will appear on the platform on the middle. Use it to complete Asphodel.

First Boss:

Once Asphodel is completed you will be teleported to the first bossfight in the plains of Asphodel. There you will be greeted by a dragon which will repeat a series of attacks which you will have to dodge by using the pillars next to you.

You can find more Information on how to beat the bosses in detail in my "Defeating the Bosses" thread.

Once you defeat the boss you will be teleported to Elysium.

Elysium:

Elysium represents the most challenging section of the map, with intricate quests that need to be completed in a specific order.

The Statues
The first task in Elysium is to correctly orient statues based on clues scattered around the map. Clues like “the statue of the warrior should face north” will guide you. However, to determine north, find a specific token in the map that points in that direction. It is the gold glowing dragon marker in the back of the garden. Check in which direction it points and you will have a reference to north to solve the puzzle.

Best practice in Singleplayer is to keep 3 zombies because 2 will die off. Then go to the different spots and take screenshots of the hints.

Once all the statues are aligned correctly, they will glow with a blue light, and a sound will confirm the step is complete.

Here is a list of screenshots showing the different statues:

The Victorious[postimg.cc]
The Empereor[postimg.cc]
The Speared Warrior[postimg.cc]
The Beauty[postimg.cc]

Here is a list of all sentences and the corresponding directions. Remember that its relative to the north arrow in the map:

North:
  • ... " shall point to the star which points us to our destinations..."
  • ... " will face lands of ice, where the hammer of thunder strikes..."
  • ... " is fated to face to lands where auroratic lights pierce the sky..."
  • ... " shall point towards the icy breath of Boreas, the North Wind..."

East:
  • ... " must turn to the cradle of the gods, where the day is born anew..."
  • ... " must turn to the horizon where the sun is reborn each day..."
  • ... " must turn to the lands of the east..."
  • ... " shall face the land of the rising sun, where Helios begins his journey..."

South:
  • ... " shall turn to the lands where the sun's heat never fades..."
  • ... " must point to the realm of endless summer and lush fields..."
  • ... " is destined to look to the horizon where the Nile flows under a blazing sky..."

West:
  • ... " must face the horizon where the sun meets its end..."
  • ... " shall look towards the land where the light fades into twilight..."
  • ... " is destined to point to the realm of the setting sun..."
  • ... " must turn to the place where the sky meets the sea at dusk..."
  • ... " will face the fading light, where the sun bows to night and the realm of Hades begins..."

Vase Step:
The next step involves shooting vases placed on stools throughout Elysium from specific angles, aiming toward blue-winged orbs. It can only be completed when the statues are finished. This task symbolizes freeing trapped souls. Correctly shooting the vases sends a soul toward the orbs. Complete this task to proceed to the final challenge. If you fail to aim at the vase or accidentally shoot it it will reappear next round.

[Here is a map of all the vases and their corresponding shoot vectors][postimg.cc]

Make sure to not mistake the vases for the Slowdown Amphoras which are spread around the map and have a glowing zombie on them!

Final Boss:
After completing the vase quest, a light pillar will appear near the entrance to Elysium’s exit. Interacting with this pillar initiates the boss fight. The boss uses primarily melee attacks, so it’s recommended to maintain distance and use fast-firing weapons. There’s a weapon box available in the boss arena for switching gear as needed. Stay alert, keep your distance, and fire continuously to defeat the boss.

Once the boss is defeated, you have completed the Hades map. Congratulations on making it through the underworld!

If they start glowing you did everything right. Maybe you misinterpreted the statue names to the wrong statues
in elysium last vase wont go to the correct way

Did you find the correct corresponding blue orb pillar for it? There are some tricky ones like the one in the map center which has it's vase far back in the map behind the dragon north indicator

I'm stuck on the vase step in Elysium, it seems like vases don't spawn
Even after waiting multiple rounds

Is one of the objects in Asphodel from Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky/Time? If so that's awesome.
