All of that said, a possible solution I can think of is that the amputated limbs from the extradimensional esper-hunters don't dismantle into bits, instead "crumbling to dust". I wonder if there'd be a way to "tag" the player's mechanical body parts as being extradimensional so that you can't get bits from them.
Elsewise, the game is full of exploitable combinations and, to me, seems to thrive off their inclusion.
It feels pretty exploitative to eat a crystal delight, get high regeneration, and then amputate your face 8 times for a total of +24 ego without any negative reputation impact you'd normally suffer. It requires you to eat a crystal delight, though, and have relatively high regeneration (or ubernostrum, or able to travel to Yd).
Proselytising merchants for perpetually free stuff, too. I won't go into how easy it is, it's been battered to death on the forums.
I don't want to come across as badgering you. It's your mod and you should do with it what you feel is the correct thing. You have a vision for it and I respect that. I just wanted to plead my case, since some of the mechanical body plans seem really cool and interesting. If it means enough to me, I might even scour the contents of your mod and see if I can't hack together my own specifically for the mechanical body plans (if you wouldn't mind). They might even be something to add as a permanent implant (that you can choose to start with, but not find in the world) and just have them be exclusive to true kin.
I love the mod, I just wanted to add. I wish something like it was in the base game, even as a third category/option from Mutated Human and True Kin.
To make a long story short, This sent me down a huge rabbit hole and now I have made an entire mod to allow you to play as a galgal or other robot with unique mechanics and all, but a bug in the base game of all things is holding me back and preventing it from working as intended. I may be able to fix the bug myself using Harmony patches, so keep tuned for that, but if I can't figure it out by the end of the month I'll just add mech bodies into this mod as an experimental feature and call it good.
