Body Types of Qud

Suggestions
Suggestions for body types. Some general rules:

- I won't add any body types that you can transform into in the base game without use of Domination or similar, for instance Slog's body type or the Crystal Delight body type.

- I won't add any body types that are a variant of something already in the mod (for instance, the quadraped body type represents all quadrapedal animals, so I probably won't add a cat-specific type). That said, I could be convinced to add more specific ones if they're interesting enough.

- I can add fully mechanical body types, but most likely won't since there's an exploit regarding tinkering and amputation that I'm not sure how to solve at the moment.(plus some other programming issues I haven't figured out yet). They also don't really make sense as a 'mutation'. I may change my mind on this, but don't count on it.

I see in your last point about mechanical body-types that you have reservations, but I'd love to be able to play as a galgal. With regards to the potential amputation exploit, unless I'm missing something less obvious, it'd be a very inefficient way to get more than a few relatively low tier bits. Even for higher tier bits, if they're available from the body plan, it feels pretty inefficient compared to other more reliable ways to get them.

All of that said, a possible solution I can think of is that the amputated limbs from the extradimensional esper-hunters don't dismantle into bits, instead "crumbling to dust". I wonder if there'd be a way to "tag" the player's mechanical body parts as being extradimensional so that you can't get bits from them.

Elsewise, the game is full of exploitable combinations and, to me, seems to thrive off their inclusion.

It feels pretty exploitative to eat a crystal delight, get high regeneration, and then amputate your face 8 times for a total of +24 ego without any negative reputation impact you'd normally suffer. It requires you to eat a crystal delight, though, and have relatively high regeneration (or ubernostrum, or able to travel to Yd).

Proselytising merchants for perpetually free stuff, too. I won't go into how easy it is, it's been battered to death on the forums.

I don't want to come across as badgering you. It's your mod and you should do with it what you feel is the correct thing. You have a vision for it and I respect that. I just wanted to plead my case, since some of the mechanical body plans seem really cool and interesting. If it means enough to me, I might even scour the contents of your mod and see if I can't hack together my own specifically for the mechanical body plans (if you wouldn't mind). They might even be something to add as a permanent implant (that you can choose to start with, but not find in the world) and just have them be exclusive to true kin.

I love the mod, I just wanted to add. I wish something like it was in the base game, even as a third category/option from Mutated Human and True Kin.

To be honest, a Galgal body plan was something I wanted to add anyways. Also I see your point about the exploit, and you're not wrong, I'm just concerned because starting as a Scholar you could literally accomplish it at Level 2. Will have to think a bit about HOW to add a Galgal body but I will definitely add one once I do!

To make a long story short, This sent me down a huge rabbit hole and now I have made an entire mod to allow you to play as a galgal or other robot with unique mechanics and all, but a bug in the base game of all things is holding me back and preventing it from working as intended. I may be able to fix the bug myself using Harmony patches, so keep tuned for that, but if I can't figure it out by the end of the month I'll just add mech bodies into this mod as an experimental feature and call it good.

Dude, I've already subscribed and I'm gonna give it a solid go the next time I get an opportunity to play. This is gonna be so awesome, and it fills what I feel is a bit of a hole in the base game.
A Tree Body Type?
Nevermind I just programmed it manually myself lol, if u want to add the files to the mod urself feel free to dm me!
