Becoming another species than human could have drawbacks because it would not be a natural species. Elves or dwarves could have a penalty in all that is learning lifestyle or even with magic.
To become a perfect human one would have to remain human.
Things take way too long in general.
Stewardship should speed up upgrading a lab. The bonuses are a bit underwhelming and more importantly take so long to get you basically disregard them.
Intrigue should give you some sort of passive bonus to keeping your lab secret.
Intelligence should boost spell casting time.
Studying should have a bigger pay out. It's extremly unsatifying to spend over a year to get nothing new. There should also be some sort of event that will give you a big boost and there should probably be grimoires floating around to study from.
I got most of my XP from experimenting on captives, while that's a nice option, I think it should be more rewarding to do wizard stuff than raiding.
Oh, and there could be more help links so you can know what a spell is without trying to cast it first.
So I found the ALT_xp_gain line and changed it to suit my run, but as basic as that was not everyone would bother doing so. It would be nice to add some setting or value somewhere that essentially allows people to choose how quickly they want their character to progress in magic (still relative to their learning).
Mentioning it here as I like the mod but feel that some people may be thrown off by how long progressing the magic takes, and how long it takes their wizard to start wizarding. Instead of trying to balance that, you could just have the users self-regulate.
