Countdown to Conflict (USA side)

I did have to change a few things
I changed the name to "Countdown to Conflict" since "Countdown to Looking Glass" felt less appropriate if there isn't going to be a nuclear weapons exchange in the battle. And to be frank I don't think ending the battle with all the units being destroyed by nuclear warheads would be much fun anyway.

After watching the film again, I think the writers might not have understood much about "naval combat in the missile age". In the movie they consistently reference the Soviet submarines as being Typhoon class subs, but that makes no sense as the Typhoon class were SSBNs. In the film the climatic battle between the USA and the Omanis/Soviets plays out more like a battle from WW2 than a battle from the Cold War. The Nimitz battle group approaches the Strait of Hormuz and then has a gun battle with the Omanis at visual range! Well, until someone sets off a atomic depth charge and things go nuclear.

So in the scenario I changed the Typhoon submarines to Soviet subs you would have more realistically encountered in littoral waters. In 1984 the Royal Navy of Oman consisted of a single amphibious assault ship and three Vosper Thornycroft gunboats. We can assume the amphibious assault ship wouldn't be a part of the blockade, and the Vosper Thornycroft boats aren't in the game, so I used the La Combattante missile boats to replace them as they have very similar size, displacement, and armament.

After simulating the battle from the movie in a bit more realistic way for the era, it becomes clear that the USA is bringing an absolutely massive amount of firepower to the table. This makes things a bit unbalanced for the Omani side, but I tried to stick to the plot of the movie as much as possible, while changing some obvious mistakes.

I'm absolutely open to any changes to make the mission more fun to play.

Oh and if the developers added an Omani flag option to the mission editor that would be great!
