[OFFICIAL] Question: what confuses you about Vermilion?
People have been reporting to me that the menu layout and other aspects of Vermilion are confusing to navigate. I have a few questions that I would like to ask everybody before trying to implement a solution and would appreciate feedback.

  • What features confuse you?
  • Is there something that exists but you don't understand the implications of it?
  • Do you know what you are looking for but can't find it? (and what can't you find?)
  • Would a larger FAQ help?
  • What about a "How do I..." page?
  • Or a "feature search" bar (like on OS X)?
  • Do certain permissions not make sense? Should they be renamed? If so, which ones?

Do zones save? Say if my server changes to another map and then later comes back to the original map with the zones I put on it... will the zones still be there?

Yes. If they don't save, then that's a bug and I'll fix it.

is there a way to make this addon not overwrite other addons examples: i already had a loadout maker that i liked better than this one and i had a weapon controler that allowed me to change damage, turn off recoil and aim spread, change ammo options, etc those two addons have been overridden by this addon and i dont want them to be overwritten i liked those addons is there a way to make it to where this addon does not effect those addons, if so pls help me

Vermilion is configured in a modular way to combat just this situation. Make sure you are owner. Additionally, make sure that your server/game is in a state where you are prepared to reload the map, make sure that any players have duped their creations ect. Then, open the Vermilion menu and select the "Modules" tab, near the top of the list. Disable the specific modules, (in your case, loadouts and kits) and restart your map. Vermilion should not activate these modules and your original addons should return to full functionality. If disabling these modules doesn't help, try disabling different combinations of modules, or all modules that you aren't actually using (this will also give your server a performance increase as a by-product, as Vermilion will never actually load these files into memory or execute them). If this isn't the case, send me a link to the addons in question and I'll analyse their code to find where they are conflicting with Vermilion. I hope this fixes your problem, if not, don't hesitate to follow it up.

Addendum: apologies for the delay between your question and my response, things have been getting complicated recently and I've had almost no time to check Steam. I've only turned my development computer on for the first time in 2 weeks today.

Additionally, if you prefer the weapon system of this other addon, that implies that there are some deficiencies in my implementation. Would you mind explaining why it doesn't suit your needs? Are there some features missing ect?

Some commands can't be issued by the dedicated server console like "vermilion kick <player>" instead of getting the prop spammer kicked via Vermilion i have to go the oldschool way and if try to kick him via Vermilion it just prits out an error message:

This command should be able to issued by the server console, you've found a bug. I'll fix that ASAP. The server console should be able to execute every command available on Vermilion.
