The private area is meant to provide a secure perimeter where any npc that enters this area will be considered a trespasser. It is not a finished feature, since the npcs cannot respond to other npcs calling them out for trespassing. The idea is that you should be able to define a guard area where npcs patrol the perimeter and then make a private area slightly bigger, so they will stop and scare them away before they get inside of the guard area.
I don't understand. This is a B42 mod where there is no multiplayer? There is a B41 version which only supports multiplayer and once B42 supports MP, I will try to add MP to this mod as well.
It is not an implemented feature yet, but it is is the road map.
I believe it should be playable on Mac as well, since it only modifies class files. These come in a the bytecode format, which is HW agnostic i.e. it can run on any OS and CPU, as long as they have a JVM. I unfortunately don't use Mac nor have I ever owned one, so it's difficult for me to provide support. Feel free to join the Discord if you want some help and I'm sure we can figure something out.
Don't know if you're still having this issue but pressing the colon/semicolon key (;) worked for me.
