Crusader Kings III

Popes and Doges

Future planning
1) I would like to come up with some kind of way to represent the Papal nobility and bourgeois of the city of Rome, which had a huge influence on the Papacy, and maybe the same dynamic that can happen in Constantinople, where certain sites can be Great Cities with patrician merchant families that are centred there.

2) I'd like to try and represent overseas trade, maybe using pilgrimage and other journey mechanics to travel to a foreign capital to sell goods and then purchase goods, this being something republic patricians could do.

3) I think Republics should probably dole out governor titles at the county level, and succession should happen there, and republics should by and large be Duchies, not Kingdoms, and a county should generate a patrician house and estate, a palazzo, which is barony level and fixed to the capital city. Even single county republics like Pisa should have some families jostling for power and influence.

I like your concept for 2. One simple mechanic that I think may have been in Res Publica or some other early trade mod for Ck3; was a clone of the Ck2 trade-post system. Not sure if you're familiar but it'd be a simple yet effective system to add. I completely agree with your concept for 3.

On an additional note, right now Genova, Pisa, and Venice are not balanced when it comes to the power the special buildings (and the fact Pisa has no special building at all). Maybe you could additionally, for the mod, balance the special buildings of Venice & Genova and add the Pisa Duomo as a special building to allow Pisa to also have a matching buff?

Pisa has a special building but it's the university, which it has a slot for but is not built and historically isn't built until 1343.
