Garry's Mod

Garry's Mod

GWater2 - Dynamic Water
Unable to get the mod to load the required DLLs/Entry Point Not Found
for some reason, i am not able to get the mod to run at all no matter what i do.

i'll usually get some amount of the following lines, no matter how many times i restart:

=========================================================== !!!PLEASE READ ME!!! GWATER2 FAILED TO LOAD MODULE! This likely means you did not install the FleX binaries correctly into GarrysMod/ Please check your installation and restart the game. If you are 100% sure you have installed it correctly, restart the game a few times. This is a problem with Garry's code and I cannot fix it. Feel free to ask for help if the issue persists. PLEASE provide the upcoming 3 lines when asking for help: Error: lua/autorun/gwater2_init.lua:70: Couldn't load module library! (The specified procedure could not be found.) BRANCH: x86-64 jit.arch: x64 ===========================================================

to clarify:
  • i have tried using the installer .bat, which works OK.
  • i have tried manually extracting the .dll files required into the GarrysMod folder; i can confirm they are there.
  • i have tried grabbing the latest gwater2 .dll built from GitHub Actions, which also didn't work.
  • i have tried restarting the game, trying different maps, many, many times to no avail.

if i try running gmod.exe through the game's folder, rather than steam, instead of it working, i get the following error:

Garry's Mod (x64): gmod.exe - Entry Point Not Found The procedure entry point GFSDK_Aftermath_DX12_GetData could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\NvFlexReleaseD3D_x64.dll.

the file 100% is there, extracted from the .zip provided on the GitHub release.

is there something i'm just not understanding here? what am i supposed to do? is my gmod install just completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥ or something and that's why it's not loading?
