Only one is wielded in game? That totally ruins it.

Maybe have one of them in a holster? That would still ruin it, but at least it would sort of be explained

You cant call it the twins if there is only one. That would be a pretty pointless name for them... or it I guess.

They can't change the class models. Sorry but there's no way both guns are active at the same time

Just come up with a witty explaination as to what happened to the other. Or have it in the holster.

Lara died and left one of the guns behind accidently in a cave-in, but other gun was on the entrance of the cave.

Naa it's like this, Lara was challenged to a duel. The guy who challenged her didnt have a pistol though so she kindly gave him one... Then Lara shot him off a cliff and couldnt get it back.

Scout bonked Laura and she dropped both of them, but Scout was too careless to notice there was two and only stole one of them. Scout was also so careless that he left his favorite baseball. Laura now carries a baseball and and always tries to run circles around people while Scout now always tries to find puzzles to solve.
