The Splatter Shot

I'm not sure you stat callers understand...
The author describes it as a paint gun. Paint guns just paint, they don't shoot flames or anything...

I assume it would replace the pistol, and would be used as a short range spy finder.
So, it wouldn't decloak the spy, just coat it like the jarate does. Plus, it would be able to paint players for the sake of fun. It could even be a paintable item that sprays it's color.

If it really needed damage, it could give a bleeding/poison damage (blame it on the lead in the paint).

I think with these ideas applied, it would be sweet. What do you folks think?

Rechargable Paint Meter. Shoots "balls" of paint that arc. "Headshots" with paint do poison damage?

Hmmm. That would make the range lots longer but, depending on if you mean rapid fire or flare gun rate, spy detector-ness would drop.

But a paint meter would be better than ammo either way.

This is what I was thinking. It wouldn't be a weapon, just a tool like the Short Circuit. You could use it to buff your buildings somehow (maybe while coated they take less damage/auto heal/work faster) and could use it to coat disguised Spies so they leave a paint trail or something.

The idea to paint your own buildings different colors would be beautiful but potentially a problem in-game. If you see a gold mini sentry, is it friendly? The time you spend wondering or carefully checking it out is time wasted. Maybe the only colors you could paint would be the team-based ones? EDIT: Maybe only color the non-red/blu parts?

If it were to paint buildings it would have to only paint parts of the gun/dispenser/pootis/teleporter similar to how austrailium weapons are only partly gold. I do really like the idea of it spraying paint to spycheck, could introduce a whole new line of engie secondaries!
EDIT: n00b3rt you ninja'd me with your edit right there (:3=

It would probably be best to keep it in the team colors, or engis would be trying to make color combos that mess with your judgement. That way, you could spray your team mates too (it would fall off after a while, like jarate)! As for the spies, I'm not sure if a trail or just a coating would be best.

I heard rumors about a spy vs. engi update, this would be great for the engi side. :headcrab:
