Seeing some people having trouble with installing the mod/ updating it. Had the game crash when resubing so to fix had to do some things after ressubing:
>Delete everything in AppData/Roaming/TheCreativeAssembly/Shogun2.
Deleting the TheCreativeAssembly/Launcher file inside the TheCreativeAssembly also has an upside of possibly fixing the launcher should you have any issues with it (gets redownloaded when booting up shogun 2, at the cost of losing load order. easily fixed by reordering mods)
>Boot up Shogun2 as usual, brings you to the mod menu, order as needed.
>Check the settings when in game. Best to verify if things like video memory (via the game settings) or unit counts (via custom battles menu) are fixed. If not, may be issue with core game, manually delete all files, uninstall via steam, then reinstall.
>If video memory doesnt work, update preferences.text.script in scripts file as needed.
Game runs flawlessly once you get all these checked
>If you've downloaded radious, darthmod, or any other large scale overhauls (or even just any other mod like cheat mods under LordHendra), chances are they've left loose data or something (I'm not actually sure, but my first few times having this mod was right after playing Darthmod, and this mod didn't work until i fresh installed and deleted any left over files manually). To be safe, delete all the shogun 2 files manually and then uninstall via steam. Unsubscribe from other mods if ever. For whatever reason, the Darthmod and LordHendra stats lingered in my games until i did this.
>Every crash I had happened with performance issues of my device, may or may not be applicable to everyone else, but check if your device can even run the game. Go to preferences.text.script in the scripts folder (the one I'm pretty sure you're meant to delete to resolve bugs) and ensure thread count matches and you've unlocked video memory.
ctrl+F to find the variables.
at default it will set " gfx_video_memory 0; "
change it to " gfx_video_memory -2000; "
at default its set " number_of_threads 0; " or something like that
change the 0 to reflect the cores your device has. It can be seen in task manager (ctrl alt delete) and going to performance next to "cores: ". Mine is a mid laptop so it had 6. If you have more, there may be a point wherein having too much looses you performance. Most guides say 8. FPS drops always correlated with crashes for me.
Hope this helps someone.
When I say Video Memory not working, i mean the number in the settings dont quite reflect your actual video memory. setting gfx_video_memory to -2000 fixes this by making the game's use of video memory uncapped. TW games have an issue with detecting video memory properly, at least for "older" (?) titles.
Raising/Setting threads to match cores afaik (im not a computer scientist, this is just from understanding guides on tweaking Shogun2) makes the game able to run the different processes inside Shogun2 more fluidly and without crashing out. Less stress on a single core, able to multitask within the game, especially with the amount of clans, entities, armies, etc. Unless you're running other intensive programs alongside Shogun2, this should be fine.
@FrostyBoiis
For my case, I think I isolated it. I made a sea trade deal so encountered nearby clans along the route. End turn - crash, and the same trying to reload.
I think this is what happened on my last attempt too.
I turned AI moves off, no luck.
Next time I attempt I'll try a different clan instead of Tokugawa
-Device specs (cant be helped. tracking so many actions and numbers will hurt any pc unless they're high end)
-AI navy behavior (They REFUSE to merge. I really hope something can be done about that, but with how the mod is effectively just a spreadsheet edit I'm not too sure how it can be fixed)
-AI Army behavior (Same problem as navy, albeit lessened due to unit cap.)
-Portugal. They way they handle their units is suspect in my games, especially in sandbox mode. Overly dominant auto resolve makes me think their stats are handled weirdly by the game.
-Money computation (for whatever reason, the local school building chain introduced by the mod makes my game worse. It may be coincidental, but it might also be because it's computed wrong OR it cant handle the percentage increases in income over time. It seems like compounding interest or whatever, I never build them in case they're the problem. the 0.2+ to Yari morale is also very weird to me, maybe decimal is too hard on the game computation?
I really hope @Lenny_Froggins can look at some of these at least. The last one is more so just my paranoia with decimals and percentages being used (and exploited) in games so it might be a false flag, but the navy one definitely occurs, with navy units for whatever reason camping a single port with a bazillion fleets (of 1 kobaya/ bune each) of a clan that neither trades nor is at war with anyone. Maybe a change in values to incentivize ai into making stronger fleet ships, instead of spamming stinky trade ships, kobaya and medium bune? Maybe make fleets actually really expensive considering the irl costs of creating a ship that transports armies? I'm not a programmer or even know the workings of Shogun 2, just a guy that plays with optimization.
-I'm on a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ laptop (I'm a lowly peasant with a hand-me-down laptop). Keeping it plugged in is necessary for me to play the game. for whatever reason, the game crashes if I don't.
-There's a difference between me turning my A/C on and off. My device's FPS is tied with my room's temperature. Learnt it the hard way with one of my legendary campaigns crash-corrupted.
atp I should bring out incense and pray to the machine god. fml.
-Setting my shadows to low but smoothing the shadows seems to be a way to make my graphics acceptable. No large changes in fps for me (but then again, my room was cold. Maybe cooling is all I need? I need an ice pack. I will play around with that).

Also, can you clarify what the extended map pool is? If its extended japan, UEFC has it built in. Most likely duplication of data is causing your crashes if such is the case. Same is said for I believe retainers, agent, and promotion ( i could be wrong, but i think the retainers at least are already part of the mod).
