New in EchoColony: Group Conversations, Memories & Real Reactions!
Your colony now talks, remembers, and reacts like never before.




🚨 💬 MAJOR FEATURE: GROUP CONVERSATIONS!

For the first time in EchoColony, your colonists can engage in group chats — naturally and in turns!

  • Colonists take turns speaking, just like real conversations.
  • You can start a group chat using a new button next to the regular chat.
  • Nearby colonists are automatically selected to join.
  • You can add or remove participants freely.
  • The conversation continues as long as you're present — perfect for roleplay or storytelling!

💡 Note: Group conversations are player-guided. Colonists won’t start them on their own — you organize and direct the scene like a storyteller.

And yes, if enough people request it, distant colonists might be invite-able in future updates!




📅 Conversations now separated by day
All chat history is now neatly organized by in-game date, making it easier to track your colony's daily events.




🧠 Colonists now remember

  • Each colonist saves a daily memory of events or conversations.
  • You can view and edit these memories via a new memory button (🧠).
  • Group chats automatically generate personalized memories for each participant.




⏳ Colonists notice when time passes
Didn’t talk to someone for a while? They might comment:
“Hmm… It’s been a while since we talked.”
Adds a subtle layer of realism and connection.




🧒 Age-based behavior

  • Children now speak like children — curious, innocent, and playful.
  • Colonists express themselves differently based on their age.




⚠️ Better danger awareness

  • Colonists no longer react to invisible or distant threats.
  • They’ll now only respond to visible, immediate danger, improving immersion and logic.




🛠️ A huge amount of work behind the scenes

In case I didn’t mention it already… Yes, I nearly lost my mind testing all of this.
Every time I thought the update was ready, a new bug would show up and force a full rethink.

I now consider the update stable enough to release — but RimWorld is unpredictable.
If you encounter any bugs related to group conversations, please report them!

⚠️ Currently supported models: Player2, Gemini, and OpenRouter.
I haven’t tested with local models yet — that’ll come later, slowly and carefully.




🔄 Compatibility Note

This update was originally built for version 1.5, but I managed to adapt it to 1.6 as well.
Once 1.6 is officially released, I’ll focus support exclusively on that version.

Wow! Finally! I've been waiting for this and checking for the update every single day since I first heard the news.
I'm so excited that I can now enjoy a much more vibrant and lively colony. Thank you so much!

1-on-1 chat works with Gemini, but group chats give a Failed to contact Gemini: HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request error. It works fine with the Player2 model.

When a group conversation starts, the colonists respond to my (the player's) initial message once.
After that first response, they begin talking amongst themselves.
From that point on, they no longer respond to any new messages from me. The conversation just continues between the colonists, and I can't participate anymore.

and, The UI for the new memory button (🧠) is not visible. I can't seem to find it anywhere.

I have the same issue as #2. I'm using gemini pro and group chat doesn't work in that state, it only works when I switch to player2.

I've released an update. Hopefully, it fixes the issue with group chats not working with Gemini.

gemini can't do group chat and player2 is pawns only reply once in the group chat at first and then never reply what I say again.

Mini update released!
Fixed an issue where colonists stopped responding to the player after the first turn in group chats.

Improved automatic language detection during group conversations.

The memory button (🧠) is now visible directly in the window where you edit each colonist's custom prompt. https://prnt.sc/e2oUuJPLbSu-
