After stealth running it, I started having a scientist cheer in my ear at some catches of supplies.

First of all, very well done! The level design is quite polished and the overall gameplay is fairly balanced. The beggining of the first chapter was a little hard, but I think that was my fault for wanting to kill everything instead of just running away.

The only issue I ran into was near the end of the second chapter, in one of the last rooms where you fight a couple of HECU zombies with flashlights. The roller gate where you are supposed to go was closed, making it impossible to finish the chapter.

It's pretty much the exact same issue that also happens in this walkthrough (video by @TWITCHERUS) at 1:01:55:

I also remember hearing a fight happening behind this gate, that was when I realized the game might have softlocked itself.

Other than this hickup, everything was fine on my end, I can't wait to play the next chapters.

more bugs i found:
console keeps spamming this in rte_map04:
Error Vertex File for 'humans\guard_jacket_hurt.mdl' checksum -1706292691 should be -83137004
and also, some guard models have missing textures
and one of the guard models is invisible
reinstalling the mod and verifying game files didn't fix the problem

After launching the game immediately is closes, I tried all variations of installing: with symbolic links and without with links.

You have to switch to "public beta" in the Black Mesa properties (under "Betas"). After that Black Mesa updates to the latest version and "RTE" works.

Not a bug, but the style of the HUD icons is all inconsistent. The crowbar and the magnum use the Black Mesa icons, the pistol and the shotgun use the style from a workshop mod (can't remember the name) and apparently grenades use the Blue Shift style?

IDK, I expect all the icons to share a consistent artstyle. If you need new icons for, say, the Beretta, just get someone to make them

This will be addressed in a hotfix that's coming soon
Since I had volunteered to give the team a more consistent HUD style for RTE, derived from my work on Black Mesa: Blue Shift's VGUI port

Turns out this is just the 100% armor noise they have for some reason.

Problematic on Linux native, but I can't play anything BMS on Proton or it leaks VRAM until it crashes.
* "hold E for retinal scanners" message doesn't show up. I spent 10 minutes in there and then found this in the walkthrough video.
* Console is full of "could not load sound bshift/..." including sounds for said retinal scanner. I even have bshift installed and tried adding an extra symlink inside rte/

Not platform-related: insta-death if you walk under a barnacle while its tongue is up eating something else, huge wtf energy
