What about a slug shotgun
What if instead of having 10 pellets that have a base damage of 6 damage per pellet, it had one slug that did 60 base damage. The idea is this one slug would do the same damage as if all the pellets of a scattergun the target. This may seem overpowered but it is ballenced by the fact that it would be completely hit or miss; the scattergun has multiple pellets traveling in a spread, so even if your aim is off, some of the pellets may still hit the intended target whereas with this idea, if your aim is off it will completely miss.

This idea may still be overpowered despite the extra accuracy needed to land shots. If so it could be ballenced by having it do less damage, or have a high damage drop off, or any other way of ballence.

thats sounds good how about this
+30% dmg
+10% reload speed
+10% player speed
-50% clip size
-90% pellets per shot (brings it down to one pellet per shot)
Alt-Fire shoots a slug that does 0 dmg but marks player's location for 10 sec, uses full clip to fire.

Also It should have more accurate, hope that sounds good, REALLY! hope this gets added, looks epic. thats all i got to say for now, BYE =)

Yeah these stats look great! It would have to more accurate, I was thinking it would have no bullet spread(AKA perfect accuracy) the faster player speed may make it a bit too powerfull but I think if this weapon would be very easy to ballence. I agree, this looks epic and I hope it gets added. Thanks for your ideas

Actualy now that i think about it the damage bonus would have to be much greater. At the moment this weapons base damage is 8. Each pellet of a scattergun does 6 damage, so when we reduce this weapons pellets to 1 its base damage is 6. The %30 damage bonus only brings it up to 8. This weapon would do 14 damage point blank. (point blank damage for one pellet of a scattergun is 10.5 .%30 more brings that up to about 14). I"m thinking %900 damage increase(this may look large but this means the pellet would do 9 times more damage) this brings it more even with the scattergun. A point blank shot would do 94 damage(10.5x9).

I think the secondary fire is not ideal. player speed isnt really ideal

I like this idea, but for me I would never use it, because I miss so many times with the scout its not even funny. -_-

The increase speed is a strange thing to add to this weapon. I agree it's not ideal, this weapon will be very hard to balance as it is because it will be able to do significantly more damage at long range than the regular scattergun, if this one pellet hits, it will be like all pellets hitting. so at far range this weapon would do 27 damage(as it stands). So adding an increased player speed would just further complicate things.

2 things:
Bad idea

well i think i agree with zoompie those are good stats i like the player mark thing
xoworms 6 Dec, 2014 @ 7:00pm
Doesn't that get rid of the purpose to get really close to them as a scout?
Dave5744 6 Dec, 2014 @ 11:20pm
I dunno, I don't see why it would be increased damage and speed. The Blaster has an increased speed gimmic and everyone hates scouts that use it. Its just OP as hell. No offence. I also don't like the idea of a sniper/scout class. Scouts should be up in yo face n stuff, not WASD-ing in the backfield. Or maybe I didn't see some sort of spread stat that makes the gun still ineffective at long distances. I absolutly love the idea of a slug gun, changing the scout class like the eyelander did to the Demoman, rather the shield did. No increased damage, no speed increase. Knockback maybe, paired with some of dat decreased clip size. My ideal stats would be...

-Knockback, like the force-0-nature
-Decrease somma clip size
-Increase pellet damage, to yanno, compensate for the one pellet. And naturally...
-Decreased pellet count

All scatter guns have the same stats, as in damage. The force-0-nature maybe, I haven't really messed with that for a while. Sorry for the long post, and perhaps the many grammatical errors that riddle my post. Kinda new to this whole stat thing. Thanks for reading!!

ah true
Capt. Boomie 7 Dec, 2014 @ 9:06am
That brony guy. I think any damage increase anyone was suggesting was to compensate for the one pellet. I agree having it do more than that would be a bad idea. I also agree that increased speed is a bad idea, not only would it make scout just a more annoying class, it would also just throw another stat into the mix. However I don't like the idea of knockback, I think it would make this weapon a bit too powerfull, and I dont want this thing to be made weaker to ballence out the knockback mechanic

My ideal stats are:
-90% pellets(brings pellet count to 1)
+900% damage(compensate for there being 1 pellet
-30% clip size( only 4 shots)
