What are the Snakemen's thoughts on the Fimir? Especially curious since it seems like both factions make heavy use of the Lore of Shadows magic
I've been doing some digging through lore and I can't find much that even really gives much an example on what the Snakemen think of anyone really. From what I can gather they at best view the world in a similar light to the beastmen. If one of the mod authors have some insight or thoughts though that would be awesome.
Can answer that for you!
There is a Fimir-inhabited region in eastern Khuresh called Mata Mire, a megalith-dotted area with strange granite faces staring out of the marsh, within the Great Enveloping Swamp that stretches along the storm-wracked coastline facing the Straits of Nippon in the realm of Vnum (the north east area of Khuresh basically). The Fimir there belong to the huge Thunderous Sight Clan under Meargh Srikilat, called a variant of "Kappa" by the local Nipponese exile communities of eastern Khuresh loyal to the Emerald Delta Marga.
These ones threw in their lot with Be'lakor after the Great Chaos Incursions and suffered when he fell from grace, turning to their fellow Chaos-aligned allies in the Blood Naga for mutual support in a fickle compact. The Naga and Fimir of this region are fair weather allies, trading in forbidden occult knowledge, commiserating in their resentment of the younger races, and allying together for some military campaigns and skirmishes. They breed and cultivate Khuresh's largest number of Basilisks which roam around the area and provide additional monster support for the Emerald Delta Marga (and constitute part of their special subfaction unit).
The Elder Naga Queen of the region knows of the Fimir's plan to shatter the barrier between the mortal world and the Aethyr to return to the good graces of their Dark Gods. The Serpents of the Emerald Delta consider that goal an alternate means by which to reach divine ascendance, in case the main one being done in Nagara Ishsva (Lost City) fails, among other plans. The Fimir also secretly balk at having to deal with what they consider "wayward Old One spawn" but they sense a strange kinship with some Naga. The Naga feel a conflicting combination of amusement and sympathy at the plight of the Fimir, seeing parts of themselves in them, but unimpressed by their desperate attempts to plead with the Four. Emerald Delta also uses them as a "buffer state" against the Pale Covenant further north in Bach Xa. Luckily this Fimir clan is known for idleness.
It's a mixture of actual lore (which was scattered across official material) and fan-made material. We took what we could from the official material and came to conclusions based on it. After that, fan material was written by us to flesh out the region of Khuresh.
In terms of the mod, we've plenty of fan written material that will flesh out units, LLs, etc.
I recall hearing in the lorebeards episode that Khuresh has a multi-layered underground / underworld, similar in part to Naggaroth but "much worse" if I'm not mistaken. What else is down there aside from Sawanak Pyrenagas or Dread Maws?
Moreover; is there some form of unique biomes down there that make it useful to the Naga aside from "we keep our monsters down here"?
