FAQ
Q: Can you play as civilizations from later eras, such as America in antiquity?
A: No, this mod only covers moving civilizations forward in time based on a template. The balance philosophy used here doesn't really make sense extending backwards, as you would be waiting for ages to pick up your civics and unique military units. Such precursor civilizations could be individually designed and implemented, but that is outside the scope of this mod. If you have an idea for how an early version of a civilization might work I encourage you to join the Civ VII Modding Helpline[discord.gg] and bring it to life. For those looking for an ageless full conversion mod, keep an eye out for Gedemon's civ classic mod which is still under development.

Q: Some of the art in your mod is different from the original, in terms of buildings and units
A: Yes, this mod creates the new enduring civilizations as new civs in the same way a novel civ could be introduced in mods. This means they have new IDs, and currently a lot of art is linked to civilization ID in a way that can not yet be modified. I will continue to improve this as new art tools become available.

Q: Is this compatible with <Other mod>
A: I have done as much as possible to limit incompatibilities, but there are a few places where I was required to override functionality. I am not aware of any unexpected conflicts, but will update this if any are discovered.
  • Wonders are updated to the current age if the are associated with a prior age civ, so they can be built.
  • Unique units are reintroduced with the same unit ID as the original, and will conflict with any mod that does the same.

Q: Your balancing trees suck! I just want to re-play the last civilization again with no modifications.
A: First off, that is very rude to say. I put a lot of work into those trees and they are quite fun. If you do wish to disable the heritage trees you can switch the balancing style in the advanced game options from Heritage to Basic. Basic balancing will let you play the original civ in the new age with no additional modifications. This can also be used as a base for building your own balancing mod for these civs.

Q: Can I use this with Advanced Start?
A: Advanced start is available, but due to the un-moddable automatic selection of prior civilizations you are likely to end up without your proper traditions. If you wish to use Advanced Start I recommend using a leader with a priority towards your chosen civilization and restarting until you get the traditions you need.
