I just want to say thank you SO MUCH for writing a detailed and honest review! I will definitely be using your feedback to take into account what changes must be made for the future improvement of my mod.
I'm REALLY not sure why you, and some rare count of others, encountered visual glitches with textures and missing sounds. I know exactly WHY it could happen, but it should NOT ever be happening... It's very difficult to diagnose when I cannot reproduce the problem myself. I have literally downloaded my entire mod, separate from my personal files, to make sure everything worked properly, and I couldn't experience the same errors. I'm sorry that happened for you. It makes me feel like SH.IT because there's nothing I can do about it except apologize for the inconvenience.
I'm really happy to hear the Flood Stalker did it's job!!! (formerly a Necromorph model, adapted for Halo with an infection form in it's chest cavity, and a bloody retexture.) I'd love to add more unexpected encounters like that.
I didn't forget to place ammo...I made it scarce intentionally. My thought process: There is a dwindling supply of ammo. The humans on the ring have a limited supply, and they're constantly fighting enemies. I can add ammo to the weapons the marines were using, which you pick up. It won't be very much because they used A LOT of it fighting the flood. So it's realistic, and also this is MAJOR: If you give the player too much ammo, they feel safe. I DID NOT WANT THE PLAYER TO FEEL ANY SAFETY in that level. (343 Guilty Spark) When the player has a Shotgun with 60 rounds in reserve, and a full SMG with 300 reserve ammo, etc... That significantly reduces the tension and stress they feel in the situation they are in. I think I could definitely add more ammo, but it won't be very much. I want to maintain that feeling of "OH F.UCK, I have limited ammo, I better use this wisely."
I even just watched a playthrough of two guys who experienced this EXACT thing I'm talking about, and once they got a shotgun, they felt safe and secure. I want the player to feel scared af in the horror sections. So that is 343 has a lack of ammo.
The Library however? I placed guns and played it through many times on Heroic, and I felt like the weapons I had out were OK. Definitely can see how some players would want more ammo, and I will absolutely add more throughout in future versions. I also introduced the Sentinel Beam to the level to add a new way to kill enemies if you ran out of human ammunition. You gotta use what's around you!
About the Flood: They have not been buffed. Their damage values are stock, but people seem to feel differently about them. I have no idea why. I can't even explain why they seem to revive more than once for some people? I've only experienced one revive, but that's me. I did not change them to revive any more than their default values!
As for removing shotguns on The Library, I'm not sure. I can't remember if I did, or did not. But I do remember that I placed a F.uck ton of new weapons throughout. Same for Two Betrayals. I may have replaced the stock shotguns with a new weapon that I chose. That's probably what happened.
In conclusion, I'm really glad you enjoyed the mod despite the difficulties you had. Thank you for the 9.5/10 on the first half of the campaign. I will definitely remedy the ammo issue in future updates and iron out as many other issues as I can.
Thanks again for your honest review! 😊
