It might be possible to make the vehicle exit automatically when on the ground.
Unfortunately, there's no way to get the ground coordinate via script.
The only thing I can think of doing is to somehow check if the player is no longer moving while in the skydive vehicle.
I'm definitely going to rework things with the skydive mechanic. Are you using controller or the mouse? I believe the camera should be fine with Keyboard & Mouse, but I know you can look up and down really fast with controller at the time being. That's a bug.
As for the animation, I needed something that had an enter/exit animation so Masterchief could skydive. The banshee animations were the most suitable. I will experiment with making some kind of automatic exit script when you stop moving, or completely remove the concept all together.
Thanks for your feedback, @THICKNICK313
That's understandable. Looking at people's reactions on video has taught me a lot. Sorry if it was confusing first time. I do appreciate your feedback!
Thanks so much for your feedback, Bulldozer! I'm probably gonna remove it in the next update.
Really? Aww man.... It's actually very useful for avoid potential fall damage in emergency scenarios imho so i'd actually want to keep it in tbh.
I know...I read your above reply. It's not a script that detects if you're going to die. That's really not achievable dynamically. I'd have to place triggers all over the map by hand. There's no way to tell if a player is on the ground coordinates.
Instead, it just places you in a separate vehicle immediately upon exiting the heli. The vehicle is designed to feel like you are skydiving.
Anyway, there's no great way to go about making detection for you landing/hitting the ground. That makes it so you always HAVE to manually exit the vehicle. People thought it was a bug. I didn't explain it clearly either. So that's why I'm removing it. I agree with you about avoiding fall damage. That was the original intent. You can go MILES into the sky, jump out, and not take any damage.
It's also not designed for CO-OP. It can be, but the problems listed make it undesirable to keep.
Also, in reply to your above message: scripts are present in all Halo titles.
I hope this makes sense. Realistically, one must fully land a helicopter in order to exit it and not die.
But I hear you.
