Please put more details about your error, if your able to record a video of the issue, it would be appreciated so i can have an idea of how to fix it, otherwise, i wont be able to help.

I found the VPK in the proper workshop folder, but when I open it in GCFScape it claims the VPK is empty, despite it being around 180 megs.
EDIT: I think the issue is fixed now. I had to unsubscribe and delete the VPK file manually before resubscribing. This time the downloaded VPK actually shows content, and I'm seeing the new HUD and gun models ingame. So if anyone's having this same issue, try unsubbing and deleting the VPK before resubbing to see if it works.
