The sound assets for the guns are amazing and the damage is respectable, but the fact that it's just a cannon shaped piece really limits its applications in designs that don't have weapons sunk into bays that hide most if not all of the model.

As well as the lack of a clearly visible conveyer point, which makes identifying how to rearm it at a glance difficult.

I can't see a reason why would you want to hide it, but... I guess barrel is the part that has to be outside.. well maybe I'm wrong and now designs without visible weponry are on top.

Well it has magazine on the side, and shell ejector on the other, isn't it too much obvious already? :/

It also has test conveyor on it's back, but I though it will be better to let it there.
Kaminsky 21 Jan, 2015 @ 5:18pm
Well, designs that emulate fighter jets tend to have indented main weapons and outboard missiles or bombs, attempting to keep the design aerodynamic for the sake of form over function.

And yes, the magazine is a conveyer point, but it's not clearly marked, what I was suggesting was giving it a square base and the standard door-type conveyer points so that designs seem to flow and the object looks less obtrusive. At this point the guns look like they are being fed by pouring ammo down the tube and hoping it chambers the round.

Heh :D It's space not earth remember that. And they are so small, you can fit them in, look on 30mm version, it's much bigger compared to 20mm. You might be happy now.

I quite like them so far, but is there any way to make them alternate between each cannon to increase fire rate? Like, if you had two, they'd fire separately, and you'd double your fire rate?

@Gestapo-sama:

This must be made by programming block I think

They just added the ability to add weapons' "fire" command to timer blocks- you could definitely do this now(with any weapons, not just these!) it'll be a challenge to manage the recoil on small ships though.

I wonder if it'll be able to go under 1 second between shots.

Edit: It's still a crappy way of doing things - I mean with timer blocks.

would it be able to make this aim vertically?
CatInSpacePants  [developer] 21 Mar, 2015 @ 7:46am
What do you mean by: aim vertically?
They shoot in straight line, so it all depends on where and how you will place them ;)
Xerxes 21 Mar, 2015 @ 7:57am
i mean since the flak's in real life could aim vertically within the gun can you make it aim kind of like a turret but instead of 360° horozontially and 180° vertically. just 180° vertically

I know how it worked in real life, but I've made this mod long time before they've added turret (aka. tank turrets) modding support: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQF7ylvPo7c&t=388

So it had to be a weapon since I couldn't create my own turrent without getting problems.

If you mean making it a turret like in the video, then I know it's nice idea, but I don't know if I'll be able to make it.

ok i can see where my idea has problems. what im recomending would require it to have an up and a down function key kind of like having 2 rotors on each side. but built into the actual gun. so you would press 1 to bring gun up and 2 to bring it down and 3 to fire. (with rotors in) but with it built into the mod it would have to folow your mouse while aiming.

You're overcomplicating the mod, it's not meant to be like that. On the other hand, it's a game of space engineers, right? Go and build that machine.
