Welcome To Hell. Quality: 8.5/10, Difficulty: 8/10, Length: Long. Played On Expert Twice.
Welcome To Hell is a surprisingly good Custom Map, albeit a relatively difficult one if your team isn't careful.

The different urban locations are highly varied and pretty endearing, a bit like The Parish, which goes a long way to making this campaign feel unique.

There is a Hard-Very Hard Gauntlet right on Chapter 1, which is arguably the hardest part of the whole campaign, since you only have Tier 1 primary weapons.

However, we also had plenty of throwables, Pills/Adrenaline, Magnums, extra Medkits and Bile Bombs, and a steady flow of Bile Bombs from the Hazmat Uncommons provided; which made this Hard-Very Hard Gauntlet manageable overall. Note, however, that Wandering Witches can spawn within the Gauntlet area; which can be very problematic, to say the least.

The rest of Welcome To Hell is no walk in the park, either. Expect tons of scripted Alarm Cars, Alarm Car parks, scripted Witches (both Sitting and Wandering), and several Crescendo events.

One Crescendo event on the scaffolding area on Chapter 4 notably seems to go on for a long time, to the point that I’m not sure if it’s meant to be a Gauntlet with an invisible trigger to deactivate it or not (there’s no button or alarm or anything you need to deactivate, but yet it goes on for a very long time).

Both times we played on this campaign, the hordes went on long enough during this Crescendo event that we decided to run to the next area to see if it would stop, at which point it eventually did (probably just on its own, but I’m not sure).

It also seems like there was meant to be another maze-like Gauntlet at the very end of Chapter 3, but it appears to be broken currently, with it not activating properly when you hit the alarm button.

Whilst all of this serves to make Welcome To Hell a harder-than-average campaign overall, the relative difficulty is lowered as a result of the campaign providing a very generous amount of supplies throughout (especially First Aid Kits, Defibrillators, and Pills/Adrenaline). The map also always stocks you up before and during horde events, which helps a lot.

Welcome To Hell’s Finale is an easy Easy Scavenge-Tank-Easy Scavenge-Double Tank set in a train station (though like on most Scavenge Finales, if you’re quick enough, you may not even see a single Tank spawn).

Three of the four original Survivors from Left 4 Dead 1 also appear to support you during this Finale, with gunfire and throwing supplies to you, similar to The Passing.

Notably, on our playthroughs, two of the original Survivors somehow got free from their confined positions, resulting in them running around and distracting Tanks and other Infected with their total invincibility (this is almost certainly a glitch, as the Tanks and other Infected would get stuck on the original Survivors and make no attempts to attack them) (note that this could be related to us using the ‘Left 4 Bots’ AI mod, but I’m uncertain).

There is also a guaranteed Laser Sights pickup on this Finale near the refuel point, which helps to make it even easier.

thanks for the ratings... but my view is that final is not really easy with continous hordes also during tanks and a lot specials
