Playing a game with default settings and 3 CPUs, at first the framerate is very smooth and capped at 60 fps due to adaptive vsync. Approaching mid and especially late-game the framerate tends to drop well below 15, sometimes even 10 fps. I've tested excessively with and without vsync, cranked every ingame graphics option up and down, independent from each other as well as in many combinations.
The framerate doesn't seem to be impressed by any setting or combination of settings I've made. Except for one thing: Scaling down the resolution. Playing at 1680*1050 regularly as a last resort I tried setting the resolution down to 1024*768.
In a known situation (savegame with ~10fps at absolutely max. settings at 1680*1050 I used as a defined starting point for every test) I suddenly was back up to ~60 fps.
I'm not convinced that this problem is tied to my hardware due to my rig beeing relatively up to date with an i5 6600k, 16g ram and a gtx1060 with 6gb vram running with windows 10x64 and up to date drivers (checking every 3-4 weeks for driver updates).
Monitoring the GPU/CPU-load my CPU always hovered around 38-42% for the HomeworldRM.exe and my GPU around 10% in any(!) case, with or without high resolution as mentioned above.
Thats pretty much it, thats where I am now. I have no idea how to proceed nor where else to look for a mistake or misconfiguration on my end.
If this is a known issue I wasn't able to find any information about, if this is already fixed in a dev build that would be fine, if someone can suggest a solution or anything i can do or test too.
I love this mod, playing it for years now (started with complex 6.something back in '08 or '09) and would love to do so in the future but i can't handle a resolution or performance that low for an extended session.
Appreciate any help in advance, every tiny bit of information is welcome to solve this issue.
