Tweaking performance?

How easy is it to tweak the thruster's output power on this mod? I know there is a tiered thruster mod, but the added weight requirements do not make sense to me, ie: formula 1 engines are more powerful than your v-6 but weight the same. It's about efficiency, more powerful fuel, higher fuel cost and advanced materials.

The extra materials and weight make it more durable due to the way SE calculates block health. It wont be by much at all though.
