Protection against official updates
As you all know, this mod changes some of the AI of the game, as well as the pathfinding algorithm and even adds new objects that weren't on the official version. This means that with every official update from CO there is a chance that this mod might be completely broken. This is bad, very bad. Not only because you won't be able to enjoy what this mod has to offer, but also because there is a slight risk that your map won't even load. In this case, your only solution would be waiting for me to update the mod which can happen in minutes or in weeks, depending on what's changed.

With this in mind, I started thinking on how I can avoid this scenario. I came up with a solution that I'm calling Ghost Mode. In this mode, only the essential logic to load a map is left running and all the mod's functionality is disabled. This means that you should be able to play the game but without my mod's contents. Notice that I said "should". As with any mod, I cannot guarantee that it will work but I'm certain that the chances are very high.

Here's how to enable this mode: http://imgur.com/a/uKptx

If you have some spare minutes, try it out and let me know if everything works for you or if you found any problem.

The option screen is unreadable for me on OSX - both options are overlaid on top of each other, at the top of the dialog.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm aware of that: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/workshop/filedetails/discussion/409184143/611701360827284815/

Glad you started thinking about that and solutions, well played.

What he said. Well done. There are lots of full-fledged game devs out there that don't show that much foresight.

Thank you both! That's really nice to hear. :)

Really nice. And though I get it's against the whole point of this mod, being able to let normal cars drive down some of these too would be neat, mostly just for aesthetics (though it takes up less space too and that's pretty neat). Just since roads like this appear a lot in England where traffic is only ever one vehicle every now and then, like small residential roads with only a few houses, industrial roads that serve one building, etc.

I had Traffic++ installed and used some of the ped paths in my city. After a while, I realized that the Traffic++ has some very bad draw backs, such as removing the one way arrows on roads and also causes my game to crash whenever I exit a map. I decided to uninstall the mod, but unfortunately it makes my city unplayable, obviously.

This Ghost Mode, while much appreciated, is not a proper solution as I still want to use the dozens of other mods I have setup and configured for my map and general gameplay experience.

So, I went through my whole map (all 25 tiles @~300k pop) and removed all of the ped paths that I could find/remember. However, I still can't load the map without the mod. If I find and remove all ped paths made with this mod, should I then be able to load the map with the mod disabled?

If it is possible, and it's really as simple as just removing all instances of the ped paths from your map, then I highly, highly suggest you look into making a mod that simply removes all of the ped paths from the map automatically. So instead of using this Ghost Mode, you instead just enable the ped path remover mod, load up your map, run the mod, save the map and uninstall the ped path and remover mod.

Thanks man,I do like the ped path idea.

In the last two days the options button has been missing, is there a way to enable ghost mode without the options menu? I need ghost mode as my map wont load :/. Thanks love the mod all the same.

Some people said that they couldn't disable the mod even after removing all of my roads so I'm not sure that simply removing the roads is enough.
The Ghost Mode is not working in this particular situation, which is unfortunate, but it has been used before by some users with good results.
I hope to have everything working again soon.
Also, the crash on exit seems to be caused by the Toggle Traffic Lights mod but if you find that it's my mod, please let me know.

That is very strange. If you can find what's causing it, please open a new discussion for it.
In the game's main folder you can find the "CSL-TrafficOptions.xml" that you can edit manually. It's pretty straightforward.

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond. Regarding the crash on exit, I am subscribed to the Toggle Traffic Lights mod, however it is not activated. When I had traffic++ activated my game would crash every time I exited a map. When I deactivated it, but still subscribe, the game would exit a map properly. Perhaps there is a conflict between having your mod activated and merely having traffic++ subscribed to... I dunno...

And, it's a real bummer that removing all the roads made with the mod isn't enough to play without it. Any ideas as to what it is that is lingering in the game that makes it required? Also, is it possible for you to fix the missing one way arrows?

I can't find the ghost mode option, mate. Is it an in-game menu feature, or should be available in the main menu's content manager?
