Great mod, great idea.
After loading my game I have been greeted by large, spreading fire in my high-density manhattan-like district. I observed it for a while and now I have few suggestions.

1. Spread radius should be greatly reduced. My fire spread across 6 lane avenue, this shouldn't happen.
In architecture law, at least in Poland 8m distance between buildings is considered as very safe for fire prevention. I don't know what fireman would say about it but from point of view of architecture student that distance should be sufficient to prevent fire spread, at least between small/medium buildings.
I think it should be one grid for low density commercial and residential, 2 grids for high density and unique buildings. 3 or 4 grids for industry (such fires are usually most hazardous). Size of building shouldn't matter as much, but could be added as additional, minor modifier.
This would enable us to be able to properly spread buildings to prevent fire spread and could enable risk-reward element to decision about density.

2. Fire spread chance should be reduced with building level in residential and commercial, greatly in high density variants and offices (high-end buildings of such types are loaded with fire proof materials, detectors and sprinklers). Hight tech industry also should be more safe (but not specialized industry, especially farming, forestry and oil).
That said...effect of your mod is phenomenal. I watched for minutes as more and more fire trucks tried to contain raging fire in mid-town and wasn't sure if I have enough fire trucks to save all residential towers and Museum of Modern Art...that was exciting :-D Thank you!

Also a little addition would be nice: There is one other fire mod combined with a hard mode, but i like the fact that i can config it myself with your mod :) The other mod has the feature that a building that was recently put out by firetruck has a less chance to light up again because it is totally wet :D This prevents a bigger fire from going on and on and on. You know what i mean?

1) This is something I'm working on. Originally, I only wanted immediate neighbor buildings. However, the game doesn't really have something that behaves in a way you would think, so I went with a "circle of influence", since I can make the claim that a single ember floating across the street is enough to actually burn down another building. (It happened in my neighborhood many years ago actually)

2) Actually, I think it should be where it is now, and just increased a bit in industrial. Especially with tightly-packed areas, fire spreading is common. You'll need to remember though, that since this is a "lightly simulated" game, if the fire spread doesn't happen often enough, it seems like it never really does, and takes away the challenge of having it spread.
Also keep in mind that once I fix the actual spreading distance, you'll see fewer fire spreads in general (as there will be only ~8 buildings it can spread to, rather than up to 60ish)

That's a good idea. I'll have to do some AI replacements to make that work though. Currently, this mod doesn't replace any assets the game loads, so it stays compatible with other mods/assets.

AI replacement ...hmmmm ... I have faith in you :) I hope that this won't cause any incompability with other mods :/
But that feature is kinda important to prevent a block being on fire for years :D It happened to me once. The firetrucks put out one fire. Then they went to the next building and the first lit up again :D

This is a fantastic mod — just want to note that fire spreads a bit too easily IMO .. here's the settings I use:
<FireSpreadModifier>0.00725</FireSpreadModifier> <BaseFireSpreadChance>1.5</BaseFireSpreadChance> <NoWaterFireSpreadAdditional>7</NoWaterFireSpreadAdditional> <UneducatedFireSpreadAdditional>1</UneducatedFireSpreadAdditional>

Fire spreads very "slowly" as far as I'm concerned. (I turn it up in my personal play-throughs) It puts a very high emphasis on having roadways with good availability for your services.

I have another mod (that includes this fire spreading mechanic) kinda-sorta in the works that should have some better spreading logic (and take smoke detectors into account).
