Chest: Tutorial for getting Organized
Part 1: About the Chest

What is the Chest?

The chest is a tool you can find in the „Host“ drop down menu while being ingame. It serves as a virtual (yes, you've guessed it..) storage for any object.

Means:
The chest allows you to spawn in any object(s) that you have previously saved to the chest. At any Time !... On any Table ! But that's not enough! You can also choose where to spawn the items in by drag and dropping. Plus it will remember the position of the objects in relation to each other. So it will spawn them in exactly the same way you have placed them as you saved the objects into the chest.

So how to use the Chest to its efficiently:

As the title of the Topic says: Mainly for organizing purposes and for quick and easy access to anything you might need sometimes. Here are a couple of examples where the chest shines:

  • Save your pregenerated 100 point lists and load them in whenever you want to play the list again.

  • Being able to quickly build lists singleplayer without having to load more that a thousand (!!) items from the X-Wing complete Edition.

  • Respawn accidentally deleted material during a game.
And most importantly:

  • Have access to all items from the X-Wing complete Edition. At any give time! Without having to leave your current table.

Part 2: Organizing your Chest

Step 1 - Creating Subfolders

Since the X-Wing Complete Edition is reaching over a thousand single Items, saving each single item into it would just overload it. So before we do anything, We need to get some organizing done.

  • Open your chest by clicking on the „Host“ Drop down menu and select the „Chest“.

  • Now a small window should pop up with all the different games presaved from the vanilla TTS. Forget all of those. The only Menu item we actually need inside the Chest is the „Saved Objects“. Click on that one!

Here we are, inside our custom Chest, and unless you have already saved something in there it should be empty. Which is good! Because before we want to actually save anything into it, we want to create some kind of a system in our chest to allow us to quickly navigate through it without having to search for an endless list of Items. To achieve that, we start creating some subfolders. Click on the „New Folder“ and start making a couple of essential folders. I recommend creating following folders:

  • 100pt Rebel Lists

  • 100pt Imperial Lists

  • 100pt Scum Lists

  • Rebel Fleet

  • Imperial Fleet

  • Scum Fleet

  • Maneuver Dials

  • Material

Step 2 – Filling your Chest

Now we got the essential folders we need to get going. The 100pt Faction List folders are self-explanatory so we will skip those as squad building is your business. Once you've build a squad, just save them in their corresponding folder. So Let's continue with the general content of the X-Wing Complete Edition.

Hey Agrefits ... thanks for the tutorial.

I'd like to offer up another method for getting the basic Chest items up and running.

Download these 5 folders[drive.google.com] and place them in your chest folder which can be found at documents>mygames>tabletop simulator>saves>chest

Now you have everything needed to play.
