money problem
Playing yesterday a money of 35000 every turn with eastern rome empire on very hard. Almost conquered all of europe. Opening the game today with the new update. Every turn -15000 money. There is something wrong with the money. Upkeep of city's are really expensive. No fun playing annymore. A solution?

I have the same problem. Two days ago +20k, today -11k. I'm not sure what changed, don't seen anything relevant in patch notes.

Yeah, this is done to prevent happy expanding without taking consequences of it. I don't see problem just to dismiss too expensive units and destroy some most expensive constructions that actually you build just because "you can". FotE still wants to be something more than just reskin of units.

Thanks a lot for the answer! Even though I'll have to make some changes in the middle of my game, I completely understand it.

Oke but, then i have to dismiss almost all my armies and buildings. Now its -51000 its not playable on very hard with roman eastern empire. when you start a new game with roman eastern empire you have already no money income.

So raising taxes is not an option? You know why roman empires were falling down at the end of V century and easy rebelled? Because of taxes, bagaudae rebellion was due of that and was much more meaning for WRE than any usurpers.

So a bit of challenge for few first rounds means we have a problem? I don't see any. Planning and forecasting should be part of any RTS i believe. Not that CA cares about it, but i do.

The slight issue with this change is that the campaign I've put close to a hundred hours into is now literally impossible to resume because I had failed to plan for an unannounced, unspecified major change to the economics. Only way I can stop losing money each turn would be to disband all my armies and abandon 1/3 of my settlements.

A hundred hours wasted, thanks for that I guess.

You didn't need any "hundred hours" without this since game without it is just vanilla "happy no-challenge". So try to really spend now some more hours on planning i guess.

How do I plan for a change no one is informed about?

Don't get me wrong, I love FOTE, but sneaking a major economy change in and going "deal with it" is a dickish move.

Not really going to argue with you anymore, topic is here from 04.05.2019 so anyone can look to know that upkeep for some buildings has changed including beta version (aka unofficial update) which was available at least week earlier prior to official update.

"I'm gonna ruin your game for you if I think it's too easy"

Yeah man, sure showed me.

Seriously, there is still available on TWC FotE version 5.2, grab it and stop whinning.

I politely pointed out why people might not be overly fond of a thing, only for you to go full spectrum. Don't think I'm the one whining here.
