If i try a major power within a few minutes I'm swamped with wars from people/factions I do not even know about, and it is too hard to keep track of everything going on. For instance, I started near the top of the map (Frontier?), and within 5 minutes of play 4 wars were happening at once and i had no idea why or who my enemy was.
I'd also appreciate learning the ropes with an interesting character but not one that is overcome by so many events. Basically, just as new players are advised to start with playing a Irish lord in CKII, are there any similar characters in this mod that are recommended?
Also as there are a lot of new traits, and also looks like new laws (and government types?), are there any online guides or wikis? Also, now there are no longer counts, dukes, kings and emperors what are there equivalents in this mod? Thanks.
I am having problems starting up the mod - I have 2.4.5, enabled LOR, The Republic, and launched, and some elements of the game run (Minimap, indicators at top right of screen etc.), but the world itself doesn't change, nor any of the characters. Any suggestions, or can I provide more info if anyone out there can help?
Thanks!
I've recommended the space pirates as an Ireland equivalent in the past, and haven't gotten much disagreement about that thus far. You're relatively out of the way, have few vassals to manage, and can ease your way into most of the new systems rather than being overwhelmed by them. A fleet commander might also be another good starting option.
I wrote a manual that explains most of the major new mechanics a while back - it can be found here.
Absolutely! In fact, this is arguably easier than in vanilla, since there are more possibilities, ranging from elections to nepotism to military coups.
You're not actually in as many wars as you might think - notice that most of them probably have the name "Operation something-or-other". Those are actually not wars, but military campaigns being directed against you by the vassals of your primary enemy.
This system is somewhat deprecated and may be replaced in the next version if I can find a way to achieve the effect better. The important thing to understand is that your enemies' vassals will lead campaigns against you.
I can think of two possible explanations:
- You only downloaded and installed the UI submod, rather than the main mod.
- More likely, you're running another mod at the same time, which is overwriting COTC's changes. COTC is basically incompatible with everything else.
Thanks for the update - super useful. I had failed to untick another mod by accident, all's good ;)
Thanks!
