ModTools 3.8.0
using ModTools while --noWorkshop enabled? / Mod crashing the game while installed locally.
hi, so i have a lot of mods and assets installed and while using the asset editor so i would open the asset editor with --noworkshop on in my game. however i would like to use modtools with the asset editor so i was wondering if i could add an exception in the launch options or somewhere else so i could use modtools without all the other mods and assets, and i could not really just turn off the assets in the content manager because this would crash my game and take forever, so i copied modtools from the steam staging to the local mods, but it kept crashing my game when i turned it on. log files [mega.nz]

(space between mega and .nz that needs to be removed)

I am primarily an asset creator. I never got the -noworkshop thing to work without causing additional confusing heachaches to troubleshoot.

What I found is it is simpler and more straightforward alternative is to create a second "family account" on Steam for free. Use this second account just for asset creation. Keep the subscriptions on this account very low. Just the mods you need for asset creation and taking screenshots. And just the props you need for decorating your assets. Lastly maybe subscribe to a handful of other buildings that you may want to screenshot your asset next to in-game.

So you do all your work in this second account. Then when it is time to publish you log back into your primary account and go to Content manager. The Content manager will scan your local assets folder - and see the CRP file for your recently created asset. You can then select it and publish and it will be owned on the workshop by your primary account.

I set this up like two years ago so I don't remember all the steps. But you can google around for those. Keep in mind that while your family account can subscribe to assets it cannot vote on assets or make collections. So if you want to create a collection of your must have mods for asset creation make that collection in your primary account and share it to public. Then login to the family account and find that public collection so you can subscribe to the items.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
