Does kill count in mission affect Heat?
Or is Heat increase only by setting off alarms and completing missions? Also, does the map the mission is in affect the Heat increase? Specifically, does doing a mission in the Docks generate less heat than doing one in Redmond Barrens?

PS: I tried grep'ing and source diving and... *facepalm* <mutters about why some game devs feel obliged to invent their own script languages and show how inept they are at language design>.

Only alarms and mission completion. The map, I do not think so, but it could vary by mission.

It's packaged through googles protobuf. I am not a big fan either, Should I add a feature where every 10 (or so) kills raises the heat by a point. j/k

Thanks, guess they figured with visual tools protobuf was good enough - can't argue just.. eesh how do you stand debugging that?

It would be interesting if kills per mission along with mission area had an effect; but then we'd need something like Duncan's zipties or some other non-lethal way of incapacitating guards for the length of a mission. Probably would want a bunch of other things too lol.

I was mainly wondering about it for the early karma grind and also looking at doing stealthy missions more effectively. Currently playing a Shaman main/sniper secondary build in reverse (starting off with the secondary first so electroshock and pistols at point blank for now).
