"Trespasser" Stats
Welcome to the discussion page for the Spy Watch-replacement, the "Trespasser". Here I will go into greater detail about the stats I came up with for this weapon. Feel free to cheer/jeer this, or add your own ideas to the discussion.

Trespasser

Level 8 Invis Watch

Cloak Type: Phasing
Walk through enemies and projectiles while disguised as the enemy
Cannot cloak while disguised as an enemy teammate

While the idea is rather simple, its actual use case is quite complex. You gain the ability to mesh better with the enemy team, but trade the ability to flee quickly. It helps to neutralize a few of the common Spy-checking tactics that the Spy normally needs to work around, while not entirely robbing him of the ability to cloak. It is important to remember that this watch is still an invisibility watch, and has a few caveats that aren't quite apparent at a glance.

Cloak Type: Phasing
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This cloak type allows the Spy to walk through certain objects for a limited time. To activate phasing, one must first disguise themselves as an enemy teammate, and then activate the cloaking watch. If the Spy is undisguised or disguised as a friendly teammate, he will instead cloak just like the stock cloak watch. The question to ask is, are you disguised as the enemy team? If so, you will phase. Otherwise, you will cloak.

While phasing, the Spy gains an effect that covers his entire body, similar to ubercharge(though not nearly as pronounced), which signifies he is currently phasing. This effect would only be visible to his teammates.

While Cloaking or Phasing:

-You cannot capture objectives.
-You cannot attack with any weapon.
-You cannot reload any weapons.
-You receive extra charge from dropped ammunition and dispensers.
-You cannot be healed by a Medic, friend or foe.
-You cannot be charged by a Medic, friend or foe.
-You cannot teleport.

Walk through enemies and projectiles while disguised as the enemy
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When activated, the phasing mode grants the Spy the ability to ignore collision with enemy teammates and their projectiles. This effect also extends to any enemy projectiles that would normally not collide with other teammates. Projectiles will pass straight through the Spy, but will still inflict 100% of the damage that they would normally. You will also receive full damage from explosions or other splash damage. Since projectiles move through you, you are immune to all knockback incurred by the enemy team and its projectiles.

Also, While Phasing:

-You can still be instant-killed(backstab, headshot, but not telefrag).
-You can still be lit on fire. Fire will pass through you, but you will still catch fire and receive afterburn.
-All status effects can still be applied to you(Jarate, Mad Milk, Mark for Death, etc).
-Throwable items such as Jarate and Mad Milk will pass through you, but can still apply their status effect if you are in their splash radius when the break.
-You cannot pass through enemy buildings, but still receive health, ammo, and charge from dispensers.
-If you stop phasing while colliding with an enemy teammate, you will be instantly killed. This only applies when you completely leave phasing, not during the grace period after you turn it off.

Cannot cloak while disguised as an enemy teammate
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pretty self explanatory. If you are disguised as an enemy teammate, there is no way for you to cloak to cover your advance, or escape from a dicey situation. You will have to drop your disguise somehow, and then cloak. Friendly disguises are still available to you, but you will not be able to disguise as an enemy teammate until you leave cloak. You will also not be allowed to activate the watch until your disguise has been selected(no picking a new disguise and cloaking at the same time), as the watch needs to determine which mode to assume. Basically, you CANNOT wear an enemy disguise AND cloak.

This brings about some interesting scenarios, as you cannot cloak up to sentries while disguised directly, as well as change disguises while cloaking. Managing your disguises and planning out when and how you want to use your phasing could help you avoid common Spy-checks scenarios, confuse enemy teammates into Spy-checking the wrong teammate(in the instance of duplicates), or playing up your role on the enemy team without being easily thwarted by a quick rocket to the face or walk-over.

As a disclaimer, since these stats helped influence the design of this item. There is no demand, of Valve or the TF2 Team, that they be accepted or implemented. All time limits and percent values are adjustable. I'm also well aware stats on items do not get accepted, this is merely here for community discussion.

Ok, so the short version is:

While disguised as an enemy, you can pass through them, as to not be detected by bumping. But you can't invisibility cloak.

While undisguised, you can invis cloak, but CAN'T phase.

And there is still a meter as to how long you can stay phased, like the regular invis watch.

All in all, I like the idea. Especially with my far too often occuring problem of being double sided in the vents on turbine, or blocked into a corner.

That's an interesting idea, but I think it would be fairly difficult to execute in the game.

This watch would definitely be a game-changer if Valve put it in the game with these stats.
Here's my up vote for yah, Asute! ;D

If Valve doesn't add this. THEY ARE EVIL
plague doctor 24 Jun, 2015 @ 3:34pm
indeed

This would definitely make Spy check a more and more Paranoia state in the game.
PunishedSparda 25 Jun, 2015 @ 3:56pm
Sounds like a really great idea. I'd love to see this implemented!

if they have the Phase Death Cloak thing, they gotta have Phasing watch right? also here's my stats for it if its okay:

Pros:
ammo can charge your Phase
can go through enemies
no noise will be heard when phasing

in-between:
can't get damage from incoming bullets or missles and such, but still get damage from the splash from the explosion

Cons:
can still get spotted by fire and other liquid weapons
when dephasing, a little loud static will activate
cannot cloak when desguising as a enemy or friendly player

these stats okay? also I wanna combine some other stats that the people have been saying, but dumbing it down. but if you like the stats up there too, thats alright also c: but that would still be neat if they add that to the game

The only problem I have with "The Trespasser" is that the weapon could easily become overused or crutch-like in nature.

This is my theory on why they wont add many weapons any more. People only want thingz nurfed because they suck at the game. Otherwise nothing would be norfed (Man I miss the old pomson.) and everything would be fine. Valve only nrfs things because they don't want to lose players even though they (sort of...) lost interest in the game. This ussually happenz when the weapon is first added. THOSE STUPID SCUM BAG NURF PEOPLE THINGS. They just want everything nerfed! This is my word of advice to you: GET GUD. Nice idea btw keep up the good work, BUT BE WARNED!!! If this is added it might get nerfed in just a few days or weeks. MAYBE EVEN SECONDS!!!

This si true, but i do think it is a bit too op, by this i just mean being able to get all the wa past the enemy defences without being noticed (much) is a big thing, if the "phaze" phase (lol) lasted maby 10-20 seconds (still a VERY long time), it wouldent be too op, but if it was like 30 seconds, you could be half way from 1st spawn to final point on upward. im not saying "NURF IT! NURF IT ALL!", just to dull it down a bit, not nurf, ok? ok.
