Okay heres the money system i thought of, Resource value for turning into coins, and i added some new resources for it.
Resource | value
Stone = 1
Copper = 2
Iron = 3
Brass = 4
Steel = 5
Now thats just a rudimentary scale so feel free to make changes and correct me on anything else.
I know I've run into the problem before when I've had unexpected baby booms because of things that were out of my control and a trader has arrived with seeds/saplings for sale that would have allowed me to pad out my food production and maintain variety but they've not been looking for any of the resources I've got spare at the time so my food production collapsed.
I feel at this point you would need to make homes more stationary for citizens (needing to manually delete or change their homes via a new button on the UI) so that they do not change their jobs and home frequently and are unable to determine who is poor and who is rich!
