Thanks for this mod + alternative MainMenu1.bik movies.
Hi,

Firstly, great mod! I had been waiting for something like this for quite a while.
Installation was easy and fast and it works like a charm. Very nice to hear that great RO2 music again at all times. Not that I dislike RS music but I just prefer RO2 and that's what I play most of the time :)

The only thing that I slightly dislike is the mainmenu background movie. Not because it's bad or anything, it's great actually, but it makes the text a bit hard to read plus it's a bit hectic for my taste.

So instead, I looked at Bink videos and started to make some new mainmenu videos for myself. I ended up with downloading the Red Orchestra 2 Single Player and took the old video from the game folder. I then converted this file to .mp4 with The Rad Video Tools so I could easily edit it in a video editor. Not the highest quality, but it turned out quite well if I say so myself.

I've adjusted the brightness and contrast of the original background movie and then I converted it back to a Bink file. Here you can see some screenshots of it:

Simply go here and replace the file(default location): C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Red Orchestra 2\ROGame\Movies

Dude it's amazing work! ^^ It can be official part of the mod :D
Last time i too wanted to lightes movies of the menu (odl and new) but i did not do it beacuse lack of time and willingness :I Anyway Great job, if you want we could work together and then add you to the list of artists/creators :) abaut the work we will talk in private chat, okay ?

But maybe somewhere is picture file and can be easily replaced but to this time i don't find it.

Can change it in ROGameMenus.upk using RO2SDK but then when u want join servers, u can't, beacuse u haved wrong game version...

Ah well, for now I can live with the RS-logo. Maybe we find a way to change it later.

UPDATE
New movies with a better loop transition and better overall quality. Files are much smaller than before and there's better balance in my opinion. Download links in my original post.

Let me know if it's better this way ;)

The Splash screen is already changed in the mod, but I want to get rid of the Rising Storm logo in the main-menu(upperright corner). But it might not be possible.

I am not very familiar with combining sounds with the UDK, but maybe there is already a pack somewhere in the game files of RO2/RS or the RO2 singleplayer with more songs that works in the main-menu(after some work with the UDK).

I will have a look at it, maybe I can reverse the original one so it plays backwards. It's quite hard (for me) to edit Bink videos without damaging the loop. And since the transition between the Russian and German part is part of the movie, I am not sure if cutting there would get a nice result. Let's see.

The video and audio are two seperate files.
The video is MainMenu1.bik and located here(by default): C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Red Orchestra 2\ROGame\Movies
The audio is RO_HOSMusic.upk and is located here(after downloading+installing the mod): C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Red Orchestra 2\ROGame\BrewedPC\Sounds
Or you can get it from the RO2 Singleplayer if you have it.

Here is a reversed version of the lighter original RO2 Bink movie, I hope this will do.
Download the file here: New version below

Replace the one in this folder with the one you've just downloaded(default location): C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Red Orchestra 2\ROGame\Movies

That's all there is to it.

Thank you but it is a bit weird how when you enter the game you see the russian frame for a second before switching to the german.
I think it would be better if you simply delete it, it might ruin the loop a bit but it will not be very noticeable. The change is already almost instant.
Or maybe you can move the first 4 frames to the end, that should be the best option.
I don't know if that is possible, I would try myself but I can't install the program you posted in the OP right now.

Hi, sorry for the waiting but I was away for most of the weekend. I loaded up the movie myself and you are right, there are a few frames where you could see a bit of the Russian part.
I removed 2 frames at the start with RAD Video Tools and now it seems better. Let me know what you think of it ;)
