Installation
How do I install this mod?
To download on ModDB(this is highly recommended as it is a very simple process. Few people have issues with this.):
1. Download 1.0 here( http://www.moddb.com/mods/iron-europe-ww1-mod/downloads/iron-europe-ww1-mod-released ) and follow the exe. installation instructions.
2. Download 1.21 patch here( http://www.moddb.com/mods/iron-europe-ww1-mod/downloads/patch-1211 ) and follow the exe. installation instructions.

To install on Steam Workshop(not recommended as it is very easy to mess up):
1. Click Subscribe to start downloading the mod. Then wait for the download to finish before proceeding. Note: you must have the Napoleonic Wars DLC to play this mod.
2. Open Windows Explorer to browse your computer's file directory. (It's a light colored folder icon on the taskbar)
3. Navigate to this path: (C:) -> Program Files (x86) -> Steam -> SteamApps -> workshop -> content -> 48700
4. Move the folder (479031821) from '48700' folder to \Modules folder inside the Mount & Blade Warband Steam folder: (C:) -> Program Files (x86) -> Steam -> SteamApps -> common -> MountBlade Warband -> Modules
5. Rename the mod folder from (479031821) to (Iron Europe) exactly as typed, do not include the parentheses in the mod folder name or you cannot join any servers.
6. Launch Warband and select Iron Europe in the drop-down menu. Make sure you select the one with a preview image, if there is no preview image then do not launch the game or you will crash before the main menu.
7.If you do not find this folder with the id 479031821 then look in all the folders in the 48700 directory and go into them and click each of their bmps until you find the one that says Iron Europe in the image.
8.Treat that folder as id 479031821 from the steps if you have this problem.

The installer says 'NW not detected' and won't let me finish the installation. How do I fix this?
1.Press Windows + R
2.Type regedit
3.Head to HKCU - HKEY Current user
4.Open the software folder
5.Head to MountAndBladeWarbandKeys
6.Right click on MoutnAndBladeWarbandKeys
7.Click on New String Value
8.Enter serial_key_nw as name
9.Right click on the new string and hit "Modify". Now enter your serial key as value, which you can retrieve by right clicking on your Mount & Blade Warband on steam or from your buying receipt.

I crash when I click 'Join Server'. How do I fix this?
This means that you attempted to install using the Steam Workshop method but did not follow the instructions exactly. Either reinstall using the simple ModDB process(see above), or try the Steam Worshop install and follow the instructions very carefully.

Gameplay
Why can't I shoot?
The new shooting system is more akin to typical FPS/TPS shooters than NW/Native's shooting. Right-Click toggles aiming and Left-Click shoots, while Q reloads. For more information on the shooting system, read our Game Guide.

Why can't the bots shoot?
The bots are incapable of using the new shooting system. This is one of the things we're working on fixing for the next version of the mod.

Does attaching a bayonet or a rifle grenade cup reduce accuracy?
Yes, however, only very slightly for the bayonet.

Why did I spawn with only 1/5/8 rounds?
The reload key is no longer Left-Click like in NW, it is Q. Reload to continue firing. Your ammunition count is displayed above the health bar. Check the Shooting System section in the guide above for more details.

Why can't I hop over or destroy barbed wire?
Having barbed wire that can be easily traversed would ruin the point of such an obstacle so it cannot be jumped over. As well, if you are having trouble destroying barbed wire, be sure to be hit the posts with thrust attacks. For some strange reason, side and overhead attacks don't work very well so you're pretty much hopeless taking down wire with trench clubs. We will try to get this fixed in the near future. The short barbed wire, made from logs, cannot be destroyed.

Development
Is this mod still being updated? What can we expect?
A large update, 2.0, is currently being worked on. Some features being worked on are flamethrowers, poison gas, new units, and new maps. See Developer Blogs 3 and 4 for more details.

Setting/History
What are the current factions and which ones will be included in the future?
The current factions are Germany and France. The next faction is the United Kingdom, which is currently being worked on for IE 2.0. We will decide where to go from there but most likely we will work on Eastern Front factions such as Austria-Hungary and Russia.

What is the time period of the mod?
Late 1916 to Early 1917. We chose this period because it covers some of the major battles of WWI, such as Verdun, the Somme, the Nivelle Offensive, and the Brusilov Offensive. It allows us to include some interesting late war weapons, such as the MG08-15 and VB rifle grenade while retaining the feel of trench warfare.

The unit names in the troop selection are in French and German, how am I suppose to read it?
There are English translations right underneath.

Why isn't the Chauchat in-game an awful weapon like it was in real life?
In Pétain's 1917 survey of French weapons, many regiments called it a very effective offensive and defensive weapon. It was noted as being useful providing flanking fire, defending conquered trenches, and during offensives, using walking fire. Many Chauchats were noted to have fired thousands of rounds perfectly during combat. They did note some stoppages due to lip deformation and dirt, but it's not as common as people nowadays think it was. The bad reputation of the gun stems from the American model, Mle 18, which converted the Chauchat to using the US .30-06. It didn't work out and had tons of issues due to the .30-06 being more powerful 8mm Lebel and just poor manufacturing. Pretty much it was useless and really did jam after a couple rounds like the myths say. Even though American troops were primarily armed with the original French Mle 15 with Lebel rounds, a few Mle 18s were sent to the front lines. They never saw combat but reports of their malfunctions were widely published, and the bad reputation of a constantly jamming gun spread to the name of the Chauchat, both Mle 15 and 18.

Why is the Kar98K in the mod when it wasn't used until WWII?
The weapon in the mod is the K98AZ, very different from the Kar98K. The K98AZ started being issued to German cavalry and artillery units before WWI and some ways into the war, began being used by assault troops.
