Firearm Weapon Issues
According to the screenshots, the Firearm would go on the right arm, just like the Gunslinger is. It looks like it isn't detachable either like the Short Circuit.

Even if it was on the other arm, it would be logical to the Engineer to use another gun on his other hand like a pistol or something. This may be overpowered, but also - as Valve would say - "too confusing and challenging for new players".

I was thinking that maybe the barrels of the gun retract into the main body of it, and out pops a robo hand (maybe resembling the robo-engie's hand?) and by that I mean make it look like the barrels and the engine disappear into the gun itself to make it look like they have retracted

I get what you mean. It could be an 'improvement' from the Gunslinger, except it takes really long for him to unload the Firearm. This will compensate for spamming and the gun will need to be prepared instead of just used on a whim in the midst of battle.
I wouldn't be suprised if they also hindered his use of the sentry gun/mini sentry so that the player doesn't have two high-powered guns.
But how would it work if you used it without the Gunslinger? How would it retract? Would it at all? But then again I'm assuming they put it into a slot that isn't melee, because that would be way overpowered.
