You have to join a faction and climb through the ranks. Each military rank increases party size. You can never get to the highest party sizes playing independent

Go to the capital of the faction you want to join, and walk around the streets, and find an officer, he should be next to a cannon with the nation's flag, talk to him to enlist. Once enlisted go to the depots and get uniforms and equipment.

Also, you could export character files, open M&B, look into characters folder and find the character, double click on the name and type in which stats you wish them to have when editing the name it must have _ as a space and weapon profs only go to 699 and if you're too strong you cannot fight anymore.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!:steamhappy:
You can also go to the faction's military depot (literally, every nation has a castle called Military Depot, [Nation] somewhere) and speak to the regimental liason in the main hall to enlist.

You'll be told you're only being allowed to join because the army needs cannon fodder, given a piece of ♥♥♥♥ musket with no ammo, and will recieve half of the 100 denars you were promised, beceause obviously you were going to buy the liason and his buddies a round of drinks for giving you this magnificent opportunity :D

Anyway, the military for is also where you'll get your promotions, purchase your faction's various uniforms and weapons, recruit standard bearers, and buy artillery. You'll be given an appropriate rank based on your renown when you enlist, and can speak to the liason once you've earned enough for a promotion. The higher your rank, the higher your max party size, and the more uniforms available to you (more or less cosmetic, except in the case of cuirasser armor).
