Solution To Farming Bug/Issue
You've started a new singleplayer game, and decided later on to try the Hydrocraft Mod. You decide to farm and find out the growth phase remains at 0, and when you water the crop it jumps all phases in a matter of minutes.

I found a solution! You can combat this by doing a hard reset while keeping your base & character!

1. Make a separate folder somewhere so you can back up your base files & character file once you find them. Bring up PZ Official Map.

2. Startup PZ, and start new solo gameplay. Don't matter what character you won't be using it for long. Choose the map where your base originates. Enter the game.

3. Spawn to your base, if it has a POI on PZMap you can use a utility mod such as Necroforge to teleport to that POI. (Mines was Farm to The West. Didn't have to travel all the way to it.) If you by chance have a base setup that's not a POI in PZMap. That means you will need to spawn to the nearest to it. This eliminates having too many files to look through that will be needed later on.

4. Once you've reached where your base would be on the new gameplay. Explore around the area. (Roughly the perimeter/area of the base.)

5. Once you've explored where your base should be. Exit Save. Then go to your new save file. C:\Users\USERNAME\Zomboid\Saves\OneWeekLater\NEWSAVENAME (If you don't know your new save's name. Launch PZ again and go to Load. There you will click on the new save and it'll give you the name of that save.) Inside you will see files such as map_XXX_XXX.bin. These are the files of the map you've recently explored! Which includes the map files of where your base would be.

6. Now the part where things require some patience. Have your Backup Folder open, New Save folder, and Old Save folder. Bring up the PZOfficial Map. Search for the coordinates of your base, these numbers play a major part and finding your base in the map_XXX_XXX.bin files.
EX: Farm to The West is 8599x8824
You will then check your new save folder and search for map_859_882.bin file (That's the coordinates, the last number will not be in the file don't worry). That's a piece of your base. If you continue to hover around the outline your base (do a big square if need be). You will get a rough idea of what map files you would need. Between 859_882 and up or down, depending on the coordinates you get from the big square you made on the PZMap.

8. Once you've compiled the needed coordinates you need to figure out your base files. Check your new save, and look for the file that has roughly the coordinates of your base. From start to finish of the map_.bin files that's your base files. 859_882, 859_881, 859_880, etc etc.

9. Now, look over to your old save folder. Match the files in that folder to the ones in your new save. Once you've got all highlighted. Copy the old map files from your original save folder. Paste them into your backup folder. (Just in case you need to go back and get extra pieces and not the same ones again.)

10. Once they are backed up, take those same old files and paste them into the new save folder. It should overwrite. Go back to your old save folder and copy your map_p.bin file. That's the original character that you're importing into the new save. Paste it in the new save folder. DONE!

Once you load the new save you should have everything you had from your old save into the new game. Beware of any new zeddies in the area. Containers remain the same on that lot. Whatever you've built should be there as well. (IF your base is not completed, you have to go back and get more files from your old save folder imported to the new save. Complicated I know but it's worth it if you don't want to lose hours of gameplay!)

Hope this helps!

hi if that works, thats an interesting solution, so well done for posting.

It worked for me, even if it's a complicated process. :-D Hopefully it helps for anyone deciding to use Hydrocraft later on.

btw a new group of modders are helping hydromancer with updating and fixing/maintaining hydrocraft.

maybe you can drop a note on their mod page or get in touch, as maybe some of this can be incorporated in the fix somehow (to make it easier for players) or it might be fixable from there too?

Oh thank you love, I'll head over and see about that. :-) So those that feel discouraged about trying hydrocraft later on in their saves, won't have to start over. ^-^ Thanks PG

Hey, just dropping a little word to confirm that the farming will be fixed in the next Hydrocraft update :) For now, there is a patch currently available that will fix it while Hydrocraft gets updated

Mod is called Hydrocraft Patch - Read the important notice if you want it to work ;)

I have not tried this procedure so I cannot confirm if this is working but none of that is required if you just install the patch.

Ahhh alright! Thanks.

My server has been running and I installed Hydrocraft. My crops are growing in less than a hour. The new Hydrocraft doesn't fix farming. Not for me. Sure I get lots of options but my crops die in less than 1 game hour. I already have a scripted safehouse script but I'm not going to go and start recording everyones safehouse, reset and restore those map chunks. It would seem a full reset is what's needed.

I haven't tried Hydrocraft Patch so I will try that. (didn't work)

UPDATE: I wrote a script. Using the PZ Map tool and some vb I can restore peoples safehouses in a instant... Just sucks to have to do this. But it works.

@Starman Hydrocraft was updated yesterday, once you have downloded the update, unplant and replant EVERYTHING and it will work.

I have tested and retested this thing I cannot recount how many times, currently working perfectly on my own server and growing at a normal rate.

It might be an issue if the server was started without Hydrocraft and then it was added later on, I guess its entirely possible though. But the new version does fix farming.

No need for Hydrocraft patch anymore, in fact, wiser to remove it.

EDIT: Same thing with the HCFix mod, has to be uninstalled.

Serious problem. My server crashed, appeared there was no solution other than to wipe the map_t.bin file that said it was for the wrong server. Now everyone's crops are dying in 1 hour. I think I am done with Hydrocraft. What am I supposed to tell everyone?!

@Starman I understand your frustration but the fact that testing all of this on a brand new game works and I cannot reproduce the error, there is not much we can do. I mean, we cannot be held reponsible if another mod causes a conflict or if the mod was added AFTER a game was started and causing problems.

The best way to ensure there is no problem with a modded game is always to start the game with all the mods you want as adding later on can cause issues.

Pretty sure if you wipe (completely) and not backing-up portions of the maps, where there could be crops, and restoring those broken cells in a new game...pretty sure it'll work.

I have played, today, 10 minutes ago in my own game that had Hydrocraft since the beginning and I do not have any issues and the only common factor that has been reported for this problem is "added after the game was already started".

with all due respect...
Props and kudos for finding this...
But no one ever should have to through this much ♥♥♥♥ just a get a basic game feature working....

@Matthew I feel you. Temporary thing in case you don't want to start a new game completely.
DemolitionDerby  [developer] 24 Oct, 2019 @ 4:56pm
I have to be honest, I fully believe the issue as there are more than 1 reports of this issue but I have never, ever been able to reproduce it and I have been using HC in an older game which got the same updates as everyone else and never encountered this problem. I have looked and looked at the faming code and at that point, it is literally a copy/paste of the original code except that “Cabbage” is replaced “Corn” etc. There is obviously an issue somewhere but the HC code looks fine, anyone please look at it and confirm me there is a mistake somewhere which I will be glad to fix but the issue does not seem to be in the code itself of Hydrocraft.

I do not think there is much that can be done on the Hydrocraft code side of things and its just one of those things that can happen with an Early Access game and the modding that goes around it.
